03 Cobra vs C5 Z06.. who will take it

well my neighbor and I have always been back and forth on whos car is faster but after 4-5 years of both of us owning our cars we've never actually lined them up. He is confident he will "rape" me, but I think with my new setup up I should take the win.

This race WILL happen within the next couple of weeks, basically I'm just waiting on a tune. Both cars will be full weight with equal weight drivers (180 lbs) and both drive the car to its full potential (driver mod). I know his biggest advantage is the weight/aerodynamics and more than likely we'll be doing a 40 roll.

My mods are

o/r x pipe, catback, 2.76 pulley, k&n intake, Accufab SBTB, home port eaton, supporting fuel mods, h/e and on 315 Nitto DR

z06 mods are

full exhaust with longtubes, vavaram, fast 90/90, medium cam and street tires, I know hes putting around 410/405 to the wheels but his car pulls hard

now I usually dont put up posts like this but this is one I really want to know what to expect. There will def. be a video once this happens, thanks for the input guys.

assuming your making at least 500 rwhp, I say the cobra gets the Z by about half a car. Should be a real close race.

I'd go from a dig and try to out drive him. Otherwise, I think he might edge you out. Vettes pull very hard past 100mph. Good luck and get it on video!

I personally raced my buddy in a c5 zo6 with the same mods you listed but it has a really wild cam it makes 438 rwhp and I have similar mods to you and I pulled on him about a car to a car and a half everytime we raced just make sure you dont miss any shifts and you should be fine make sure you keep us posted on your outcome goodluck

I came up against one that only had exhaust from a dig. It was case closed walking away steadily from the Z06. Things change fast when they are much more modded because of the weight.

In my experience I needed about 60rwhp to PULL EVEN with a C5Z from rolling speeds.

I raced a cam/bolt-on one with my car making about ~500rwhp and we were practically dead even.

I think with tthe mods you listed for the Z06 he will take you. Your best chance is to race him from a dig in some decent weather.

Well, as everyone has said above he is definately not going to "rape" you. I say it's a drivers race until you have to shift out of fourth, I wouldn't be scared to do it from a roll, or a dig.

My money is on the Z by a car. The faster you go the uglier it will be. And he must have a tiny ass cam because he should be making over 400 cam only easy, add a fast he should at least be 420+. Ask him what cam he has.

60 rwhp is what I was thinking as well, I am hoping with my mods I am close to 500 which should be more than that 60, so I am hoping I can take him.

Yeah man im not scared, just want to know more or less what will happen.

To everyone whos posted their opinions, thanks and I will post a video when this happens in about a week or so depending when I get my tune, but this race will happen as soon as I get my tune.
