Actually it's like 5th in terms of performance in the Mustang pecking order of street cars delivered by Ford. Lets think of some factory Mustangs that are better performers than Terminators.

-2000 Cobra R
-2007+ GT500(which have had several big updates, but we'll count it as one car)
-2011+ Mustang GT
-2012+ Boss 302

00R quicker than an 03/04? I think not. Better handler, yes. Full suspension, rear seat delete, no a/c or radio, and only a wing an SRT4 owner would love. $20K more expensive, if you could get one at sticker.

At it's time of production it was the baddest Mustang made. It brought respectibilty back to Mustang lost from 96 on in 2v platform, and even the 4v N/A cobras were really a step behind the boys from GM.

Holy shit newb.... I mean dude!!!

Who would of thunk that a bolt on/pulleyed Terminator would run away from a stock 2011 GT in a roll race?

Check out the King in action in this video.

lol.

Don't kind yourself. A 2000 Cobra is a way better performer than a 03/04 Cobra. It's capable of lapping tracks as fast as or faster than C5Z's or Vipers of that era. Besides if you just consider acceleration performance then I'm pretty sure most magazines clicked off quicker ET's and faster traps in the Cobra R than they did the 03/04 Cobra. It would make sense seeing as how it made 385hp/385lb-ft to the Terminators 390hp/390 lb-ft in a much better equipped/engineered/lighter piece of racing machinery.

Edit:

Look.

A 00R was/is a purpose built track car. It should outhandle an 03/04 which was available to any consumer without having to have a pro license. How's a 00R in Summer commute? How about putting the kiddies in the backseat? Oops not there.

You show a comlete lack of knowledge of 03/04 Cobras. Show me where a magazine got a sub 13 second et in an 00R. MM&FF got 12.4 in an 03 Cobra. I personally ran a 12.6 bone stock.

I'm not knocking the R, but it was out paced by the Terminators.

Bottom Line here is that 03/04 Cobra's will always be better cars..Why? Because I have seen a bone stock low mileage cobras go for same price as a brand new gt 5.0...A 9 year old car with 10K miles for around 30K...There is a reason for that...I just bought mine with 36K miles for 20K I could easily picked up a new 5.0 for low 30's but didnt want to because the value of them in 4 years will be the same as 03 Cobra...If not lower..

How the hell are you going to bust my balls about posting a video where someone ran a 11.7 with a stock Boss 302 running slicks, and you are going to post the freak 12.43@113 mph time that Evan Smith ran with a stock Terminator? I mean damn the guy ran a 12.7 with a stock Gen4 Z28. Hell I think MM&FF ran something like a 13.2 or 13.3 in a stock L. Who else does these things? How many magazines were posting 13's with the 03 Cobra? Quite a few. The only 2 Cobra R magazine tests I can find have it running 12's at over 110 MPH. One being MT, and the other being Mustang 5.0.

Look at this like to see a comparison between the two car.
Mustang Cobra Comparison - 2000 Cobra R Vs. 2003 Cobra - 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords Magazine

BTW I'm talking which car is a better overall performer, and not better roll racing platform.

You show a complete lack of 2000 Cobra R knowledge, and my Terminator knowledge is probably at least as good as yours. I DD and modded one for quite a few years.

Some of y'all say some really foolish things. I guess by your logic Z06's aren't very good cars because they do a piss poor job of holding their value? Same with GT500's I guess?

On the real a 2011+ Mustang GT is a far superior car to a Terminator in most every measurable way.

1) What dumb ass posts a heavily modified cobra vs bone stock 5.0 as proof of anything...

2) It is pretty apparent to me that if some cobra owners are so defensive about the new 5.0 and so butt hurt over it that they spend their entire life trying to prove to themselves the cobra is "better" than obviously the 03/04 cobra isn't the best mustang ever made since they are too afraid of even going after the GT500 or BOSS...

3) If you can't admit the new 5.0 is impressive you are compensating for something...

You want to fund my project and I'll be happy to get it done real quickly. And yes I know a whole lot about 03/04 Cobras, and I can teach you a lot about them.

If you consider heavily modified under $1000 of mods..

Call it whatever you want, what dumb ass posts a video of a Pulley bolton cobra vs a bone stock 5.0 as proof of anything....

And I had a 97 cobra, then an 04 that I bought new and modded. Went 12.62 @ 111 stock with me driving it, not Evan Smith. So they are capable of mid 12's stock. And we weren't talking about track cars, so from a roll the Cobra would beat an 00R. You quote 390/390 hp for the 03/04's but that is about what they were putting to the ground. Realistically they were more in the 420-430 range.
