It just further proves that bench racing from magazines is bull. Get out there and do some independent tests!
I would almost be embarrased if I was a ZL1 owner after reading that magazine nonsense. I'm sure deep down, most of those guys wished they owned the car described as "dangerous, violent, loud, intimidating, etc." That's what muscle cars are all about. The consensus for all those articles was the ZL1 is "better" because it's easier to live with on a daily basis. You might as well get a Cadillac CTS-V if that's what you are looking for in a car...it wins that contest hands down. For those interested in having a bad ass muscle car, cross shopping a Cadillac is NOT in the cards.
We'll just have to drive our second place GT500s.
Gotta love those bad reviews.....A true mustang enthusiest does not need a mag review
to buy these cars....i hope they keep getting bad reviews...that will stop the monkeys with more
Money then brains from paying adm's....so the true mustang guy/gal can buy it.
I am tired of all the magazines picking the ZL1 already. Can't wait for 5.0 magazine and Muscle Mustangs/Fast Fords to come out with there stuff. Just had to get that off my chest.
I will replace the brake pads and if I have to I will change out the rotors. I will buy a brake cooling kit when available as well.
All this soft talk about road manners and track ability.
The bottom line is if you want a ZL1 buy it and then get beat by a 2013 Shelby GT500 at the nearest red light. Case Closed!!!!!!!!!! :fm:
You can bet the majority of these mullet headed ZL1 owners would give up handling for what the 2013 GT500 has and when a 2013 pulls up beside their mobile bunker they'll ease off when the light changes like a 80 year old woman driving.
I'm not disagreeing with you at all...
However, if we (Mustang guys) think MT, C&D, IL, etc., are being biased... What do you think the Camaro guys will think/say of an article about a Ford vs. Chevy in a Ford magazine?
Or how about the fact that GM uses magnetic ride control, Which Ferrari also borrowed. Fanboys never give credit when credit is due, Instead they make excuses.
"It's a conspiracy" "The government paid MT"
Clearly the underdog which is a 100hp down and 250lbs heavier keeps beating the gt500 for a reason. That reason is a better overall balanced package.
I would never buy a car based on what anybody says. Too many people read/listen to media crap and then spew it as truth. I did not/would not consider a Camaro of any kind b/c I don't like the design, inside or out. Even if it were the "better" car by whatever measure, objective or subjective, it wouldn't make any difference. I bought the GT500 b/c it appealed to me on several levels, not b/c it's the best car out there. The ZL1's 2nd generation ride control should be better at trying to walk the line between street and track as our suspensions are old by comparison. Ours is firm & firmer but I like it that way. I'd like it if all testors agreed with me(us), but it doesn't change my opinion of our car or the ZL1. I didn't buy my car for anyone else but me and don't need validation from others to be secure in that.
Agreed. Neither the Camaro nor Mustang are muscle cars, especially the ZL1 & GT500. The ZL1 just happens to have a more refined suspension and in the opinions of the mags a better overall ride even though it's clearly slower. Nothing more, nothing less.I cant think of one car in the entire new car market that fits that description. And no I do not see the 2013 GT500 like that either. Truth is muscle cars are long gone and pony cars have taken over. I've driven multiple newer pony cars and none of them feel anything like raw power muscle cars.
Oh man this should be priceless. Please regale us with your opinion of "a real car."When you've driven ford all your life. You simply don't know any better. I can't blame the fanboys. They've only driven YEE hAW cars. Once you decide to step up and drive a real car, You'll realize living your life "a quarter mile at a time" is boring.
I judge cars not people. So keep personally attacking me, As I find it amusing :]
You can tell someone is truly hurt when they start insulting you over a forum, When you don't agree with the same materialistic item as they do.
Proceed...

Because GM has yet to make any car that stands on top of any mountain alone. Well maybe the volt. But it stands on that mountain on fire. So lets call that one a tie.
ZR1 in the 90's and today? Z06 in 2006 as perhaps the ultimate bang for you buck track car?
L88 Corvette: Chevrolet Corvette Stingray L88 Coupe
Honestly, pretty much the Corvette in general. There is nothing else like it.
You could certainly make a case for the original, or the "real" ZL1 in 1969: HowStuffWorks "1969 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1: A Profile of a Muscle Car"
There were some other good one's over time like the LS6 Chevelle, but I wouldn't say they stand on a mountain alone.

zr1, z06, zl1, and cts-v. If any of those cars are not impressive you are not a car guy.
Ford: Only has heavy live rear axle cars. At least GM gives you variety.
Enjoy your 1 trick pony. That's all you got. It's not a bad car, but don't try to compete when there is no competition. Chris Harris said it best "You can't make a car better just by throwing more hp at it." and that is clearly the case in Ford.
Let the flaming BEGIN! :] Truth hurts.
The only way I can make sense of this (having been a publisher) is that GM spends more on ads than Ford does....
