Screw a blower. Since you're happy with how the car is already just throw a dry shot on it. That way the car is the same except when you turn the system on. Plus I'd like to see more nitrous coyotes.

Yeah, I am one click away from getting the dry shot and trying for 10's.

ive ran 11.9@124 on my street tires. its just a little 2.3 compressor! lol:rockon:

I tried running on street tires last weekend. Ran 12.2@128 best. That was leaving in 2nd and not getting on till the 330 mark. It was so bad my 60ft was 2.5 and 2.6 on the two runs I did.

my best 60ft is 1.9 on my street tires. although this was before the JLT intake and the retune. The car is really a different animal now and the power really comes on hard now. im sure it may be worse lol!

Don't know about you but i always like doing more with less.
.considering the mod list posted, I'd hardly call that less.
I would like to see the "average Joe" slap on a blower and go deep into the 10's with a manual and a Drag Radial. Guys have a hard enough time doing it with an auto.

Mike

IIRC, a fair number of guys have done it.

We were running high 11s with a stock motor 1990 5.0 back in the day. That car was rated at 225hp so sure a new 5.0 with 400+ hp can run 10s.
With the right gearing and suspension and weight reduction why not. Traction is the name of the game. This car was probable tuned at the track which is where all the fastest cars are. It's not an auto so thats one less thing to worry about. Keep us posted with the cooler air on it's way you'll be in the mid 10s before u know it. Good luck

Sure, it can be done. I am sure that I could do it. Of course, I would run a slick and not a DR, but that is splitting hairs. I don't think just anyone could do it though. There are plenty of guys running around with S/C cars that are slower than my mild bolt on 3.31 car. It is all about getting the car to hook, and getting it down the track. With an auto, I think just about anybody with balls can do it.

Agree. Its sad when i see blower cars running slower than me with a few n/a bolt ons. Driving is what will break or make a car and it's times.

Perfect example would be the guy that was at the track with a 2013 GT500 that barely broke into the 12's.

the big thing to consider though ( and I know that traction wins races at the strip) is that a lot of us blower guys are not running a slick and skinny setup. I chose not to buy the slicks and skinnies based on the fact that i didnt want to make a pass and get kicked of the track for not having a cage in my car. My car traps more than enough to run high tens. (granted i know that spinning will equal more MPH on the big end)

I can see a car with street tires having big issues, but most should at least have a DR at minimum. All my times have been done on a radial, not slick though. The first time out i was running stock front wheels with just a radial out back and ran a 12.2 with a 1.94 '60 spinning. Not picking on those running street tires though, kind of a lost cause for traction and good 1/4 times lol. I can see most not wanting to get booted for not having a cage, but tracks are pretty fair and wont kick you out for being a .1 tenth faster than the cage limit.

truthfully on street tires I havent been that bad until the intake and retune. before the JLT and update I wouldnt be able to burn the tires all the way through second. now 2nd is useless. I ran out of money when i went the route i did. I will be ordering slicks and skinnies when i get back i want a 10 sec timeslip! Im pretty happy with my 11.9@124. I may try and get some DRs before I roll and see what I can get out of her.
