Ok, this is not my kill and I basically had nothing to do with this. A very good friend of mine is a State Trooper and told me about this story that was spreading through the different posts like a wild fire. I have seen the dash video, but until I saw it i didn't believe a word of it.

Just in case there are other troopers or anybody involved with this on this forum, Im going to keep names and locations vague.

There is a strip of state route 61 that was recently resurface that runs from one town to another that is very straight and very flat through the country side. One night about 3 or 4 weeks ago now, a trooper was southbound on 61 going into town A. At the city limits he clocked 3 sport bikes at 118 mph northbound. For whatever reason, (crown vics with the interceptor pkg w/LED light bar are limited to 128mph), this trooper decided to turn on them and attempt to initiate a stop. Obviously at 11 or so at night a clear flat and straight road the bikes are gonna run....and they did. When they dropped a gear and took off the trooper called pursuit and asked if he had help 61n out of town A. He got a reply from a Sgt Trooper in a new Hemi Charger that was in a pretty good position to help out. He was a few miles north just off 61. As the Sgt approached 61 he saw the bikes go by and initiated pursuit. He eventually caught up to them. The third bike(with a passenger) peeled off onto a county road to the right.... the Sgt caught the second bike and PASSED THE SECOND BIKE WOT. Passing through 137MPH, a raccoon ran out in front of the lead bike(1 female passenger). The bike hit the raccoon and split it in two... I shit you not Ive seen the video. The bike wasn't phased at all surprisingly. You could hear the break in traction through the rpm tone of his exhaust but that was about it. At 154 the trooper stayed with the bike. As they approached a set of tracks, the bike hit the tracks at 83ish. the trooper hit them harder and got right up on him and announced over the PA "Just give it up dude, your not getting away". After several attempts to communicate with the bike the bike finally just gears down and pulls over. the passenger climbed off with her hands in the air and the trooper casually arrested the driver. The first words out f his mouth "I thought you guys couldn't chase bikes" LOL the Sgt just shrugged and said "nah, we can" as the Sgt is placing the biker into the cruiser the second bike comes over the tracks and turns into a driveway off the left side of the road and kills his bike. As the trooper with the crown vic approached the sgt radioed that the bike had pulled off at the second house north of the tracks blah blah and the second biker was also arrested after trying to hide out. The driver of the lead bike later said that he nearly shit his pants when something ran in front of him... he didn't even realize he hit it.

The Sgt got one of those "hey good job, but don't ever f***ing do that again" kind of talks. The troopers I know that drive chargers have had them over 160, so this is to let you guys know.....unless your packing some serious sh*t under your hood, your not running from a charger/radio/dash cam with your plates on recording.

99% of sport bike riders can't ride for shit, and 600cc bikes won't go much over 155 GPS speed (not the comical 170ish number the speedo says).

This story doesn't surprise me at all.

On a side note, a buddy dynod and Hemi police charger and it made 260whp on a DJ. I don't recall the rating but it's something like 340.

Sometimes the cops will chase a bike, sometimes they wont. Officer's discretion i guess.

Most of the time, whether it be a lambo or some other fast car or sport bike, they will turn around hit there lights just to see if the driver will voluntarily pull over, otherwise posts around here would just turn into the next median and hope that the retard will slow down. With the new chargers, most of the troopers will go after someone.... just so they can get the chargers up there.

But yes its all situational.... weather and traffic are the two biggest factors around here. Most of the time there is 1 MAYBE 2 troopers per county

They are not limited from the factory. Dodge refuses to honor the warranty if they go aftermarket limiter and wants 5k PER CAR to limit them from the factory.

Plus they are smooth.... like 160 mph, one hand on the wheel other hand on the radio smooth. I was very very surprised. I am still unsure if I could take one top end... I doubt it tho

one of the things most people dont realize is the weight of these cars. The Crown Vic's from the patrol WITHOUT the driver wearing his vest/crap is over the gross vehicle weight rating of Ford. I would tell you to go drive one, but unless you have a badge or some other trick up your sleeve.. I dont see how you would. I feel very comfortable going 150+ in my cobra..... The first time I drove a patrol car, the first thing that came to mind was "this thing is a f***ing tank!" I didnt feel comfortable at all going over 90 at first.

Maybe they were on dirtbikes? Hemi trooper mobile is at best a 14 second ride. Bad rider on a 600 should be in the 12s. Roll on equals train lengths against mr smokey.

Nothing more fun than smoking a 600 on the highway. Those guys think they can't be beat by anything. I love it when I'm driving my 997 Turbo and they pull up next to me and start revving. Anything over 60 mph is game over for the bike. By the time I'm at 160 it's not even a race.

Now the liter-bikes? That's a different story. The Hemi-Charger better be calling a helicopter!

Weight does not affect top speed just how fast you can get up to speed, also the Crown Vic is one of the largest surface area cars sold in decades it's amazing it goes as fast as it does.

Like others have said, plenty of cars will walk away from a charger, but given the horrid aero of bikes, and the long stretch of road... it's not that crazy. Hell, my car is slow, but it will still get to 150 if you give it enough road.

There is obviously an aero limitation to overcome as well... I had a 3.23 LT1 Camaro that would barely reach 150mph bone stock (ran 14.1 @ 97mph - 1146DA) but it was literally out of steam at those speeds, needle would not move and limiter was set to 255 per lt1edit)...what kind of power is your car making?

230whp, 250-260tq. I'm not trying to brag about the car though, just saying that power helps to overcome weight at those speeds.
