Got on my car a little leaving a stop light last night and then all of a sudden got this aweful loud ticking. Not sure what the problem is but I know its not good and I would appreciate any input as I am not the guy to diagnos engines.

Heres a quick video, thanks for any help!

I had a 2v head gasket let go. Pulled the motor because it also started knocking like this and found 3 spun rod bearings. Built a mild short block dropped in and primed the motor. 65-80 pounds and was running great. 30 minutes into it running, oil pressure went to nothing. Pulled engine and tore down everything to find the oil pump gears were in pieces. Again wiped mains and 1 rod bearing this time. Both sounded very similar to this video.

That sounds like a very deep knock. Either rod or main bearings. If it was more of a tick I would say lash adjuster or rocker/fallower.

Sorry for the bad luck. Time for a rebuild with forged pistons and rods. After that add a blower and enjoy.

The factory oil pressure gauge in the dash takes only 7-10 psi? If I remember correctly so if it's bottoming out I would say that's a bad sign as well. Sorry man but it may be time for a rebuild. Forged bottom end and a little boost?

Yeah that definitely sounds like a bearing knock. Sorry to hear man, I hope you can get everything figured out and have it back on the road again soon!

Yep sounds like a rod knock. I've had 3 friends have the same sound with their 2v's and they've all been rod bearings. Sorry for the shit luck, especially in the snow!

Yea... Looks like its going to need a rebuild...

Since It was my daily I am going to retire it as a daily pick up a new 13 Fusion through D-plan and then focus on a rebuild

Cant decide if its time to de-mod as much as possible and sell it, or go all in and build it.

If I keep it I likely wont get to drive it for a 1-2 years. Leasing the Fusion as a DD and my insurance cost for 2 cars is too high (made some mistakes as a young kid and still paying those points off)

What to do...........

I had this same problem, oil pressure gauge kept going in and out and had a knock, ended up being a spun bearing. i was able to drive it for another 3-6 months, then threw a rod.

I'd sure like to take those seats of yours off your hands if you decide to go that route. I know how your feeling man. It sucks but my advice would be keep it, park it and just slowly do everything you've ever wanted to do on it. You'll have a brand new car to drive and you won't have to worry about your mustang being done at a specific time, that will give you time to build it the way you want it!

If you own it I wouldn't let it go. Park it and put storage insurance on it until the build is done. Last time I put storage insurance on my car it cost a whole $14 a month!

This will free up some cash so you can pay your bills and allow you to slowly build the engine.
