Are we sure that we are not looking at the suspension for the upper level cars such as the Boss and Shelby? I only ask this because the are Boss cues on the test mule car, such as rear end girdle, exhaust, wheels.

I just hope Ford doesn't screw up like it did with the 2nd Gen Stang (remember the Ghia?). Ford must stayed focused (no pun) and see what the competition is offering. Speaking of the devil - did you see what Chevy just unveiled in New York today? I just hope Ford's new gen has an answer for this beast. Skip over the BS in the vid and go to 9:20 to see the Stangs new competition.

Color me unimpressed. Its a 3800 lb corvette z06 without the corvette or the z06. Its 300 lbs lighter than a zl1 which puts it around that 3800 lb mark but it doesnt have trunk carpet, a stereo, barely any interior and a/c is optional..........

If this is how chevy is combatting the boss 302, all I can do is LOL

Where did you get the 3800 lb number from? I think you are ignoring the fact that this vehicle is targeted for the race track. 470 ft-lbs, ceramic brakes, Recaros, and yes an optional AC, no speakers. It will be interesting to see what this car will weigh in as. Don't get me wrong here - I love my Boss 302. However, Ford will have to respond to this new competitor. I just hope the 2015 has something to offer.

A camaro zl1 weighs 4120 lbs. They said in the release of the z28 that it weights 300 lbs less than the zl1, which puts it somewhere around 3800 lbs. Thats where im getting the weight from.

Im sure its better than a boss. I dont see why they would release something aimed at the boss that wouldnt be. However, its a 3800 lb track car. Anyone who road races knows that weight is the worst enemy of a road racer. It causes everything to wear out faster plus it makes handling dynamics more challenging. Of course there are ways around that, but Id rather have a lighter track car.

This is NO joke...

This could be the most accurate depiction (and most exciting according to a publication) of the 2014.5 Mustang.

Coming Soon........

The 5.4/5.8 Condor/Trinity engine is at the end of its life. Apart from the GT500, the 5.4 was used in the E Series Van, the Expedition, and the Navigator. The E Van is being discontinued for 2014, the Expedition and Navigator are being redesigned for 2014 and will have truck versions of the 5.0 Coyote, and there will be no GT500 for 2015 and probably 2016 as well. That engine family is kaput.

The 5.0 Coyote OTOH has tons of life left in it. Tech from the Boss and Cobra Jet will trickle down into the GT in the future. The NA Cobra Jet motor is actually overbored/sleeved from 92.2 to 94 mm to unshroud the valves, yielding a displacement of 314 CI or 5.1 L, so if they get the PWTA tech into the Coyote a slight bump in displacement is possible (though 5.5 is highly unlikely). Direct Injection is coming at some point, though probably not in 2015. And we can all hope for a blown version of the Coyote around MY2017.

Do you really believe Ford isn't going to have a Halo Pony car? Especially with their main Rival GM having the Rs,Ss,Z28,Zl1. Plus Dodge has the rumored return Of the Barracuda. I understand what the past models have done but I simply do not see it happening. If Ford doesn't come out with something besides a GT and a Boss, they'll lose buyers. They need to strike while the segment is still hot, capitolize on the buyers desire for more HP while it's still there. Ford made it through the times when GM took a bail out and dodge sold because they have smart people in control, they understand what the public wants.
Members on this site may be a small percentage of buyers, but I guarantee you Ford pays attention to the site. Heck this site got plenty of new members when the 2013 were released. The public, whether they like it or not, get funneled to this site because of the Factual knowledge of its members.

My prediction is that ford will release either a v6,GT,Boss, Gt350 line up or they'll bring the GT500 back.

I expect Ford will phase in the Halo Mustang's after the initial release. The 2014.5 will have the new Ecoboost 4 Mustang. Hopefully they found a proper model name for it. SVO would be a nice tribute and makes a nice Ecoboost cousin to the SHO. I have used G4 and G6 as placeholders for the 4 and V6. I have also heard "SHO" from some other enthusiast. Turbo GT could work as well when talking a single, Ecoboost turbo... Reserve the SVO for a TT V6.

2014.5: G4 and GT (including convertible)
2015: No new models, SVO or SHO TT 3.5 Concept revealed (Cobra Jet availible)
2016: SVT GT350 (GT350Spec and a GT350R availible, Direct Injected Coyote introduced)
2017: SVT GT500 and Turbo GT (Base V6 axed)
G4: 305hp
TGT (SVO): 375hp
GT: 444hp
GT350: 505hp
GT500: 675hp

Boom, the models scale nicely and numbers are based on real world observations. The may be an MSRP conflict between the TGT and GT but keep in mind... V8's are becoming more expensive (according to Chevrolet).

Going all in on it's 50th would be nice however, there is competition looming close by. Good to hold on to your face cars till last.

There's not going to be a "Boss" in 2015. There are rumors of a GT350 which will be similar in that it will have a hi-po NA 5.0 and a road track oriented suspension.

I think it's highly unlikely there will be a GT500 or Cobra with a boosted engine in 2015. Maybe in 2016, much more likely in 2017.

As for the GM comment, the Z/28 is going to be a 1 year extremely limited model, I doubt Ford cares much. But yeah, they'll have a hole in their lineup for a year or two against the ZL1.
