Thats some high-end fluid. $75 per liter...

After having driven my 2007 Shelby GT 500 on track at Road America, Auto-Bahn and VIR, I spent, (no let me rephrase that) wasted, an inordinate amount of time bleeding brakes on that 'Flying Pig', sometimes EVERY session. :fart: I tried fluid from Ford, Wilwood, Brembo and Valvoline. :( As soon as I switched to Castrol SRF my problems went COMPLETELY away and I could go three days without bleeding one damn caliper! :-D I recommend this fluid for anyone headed to a racetrack, particularly with a GT 500.

FWIW

:thumbsup::coolman::beer:

PS Nice work Tob. :-D

Bruce, what tires were you using there? And did you have ducting in place to the front brakes by then?

And hey...

Wait...you did all the work. All I did was spin a wrench or two after paying for the luxury of having you do all the dirty work so that I didn't have to. Thank you for making this stuff available. The kudos, my friend, goes to you.

The tires are Nitto NT-01's because #1 I'm cheap. ;-) #2 is because they have decent grip and #3, they last a pretty long time. (did I mention I was cheap!?)

As far as the brake ducts go, are you kidding? Absolutely the 'Flying Pig' had brake ducts installed on it for this event. Plumbed through the fog light openings with 4"-3" reducers.

After having driven another heavy assed Mustang (my 2000 Cobra R) on track, I would NEVER go the the track without front brake ducts on a Mustang. And yes, I still managed to overheat them a few times. :rollseyes If you've noticed in the videos, the only time I can make up the gap with these damn Z06's is in the braking zones!! (equal HP but heavier) :dancenana: This can be attributed to brake confidence I've spoken of in the past.

I love Mustangs. I love to pass Vipers, Corvettes, Porsches and Ferraris on track with a Mustang. It's quality family entertainment. If you went to the track and passed a bunch of Mustangs with a Viper or Z06 nobody would even notice! :fart:

Glad you like the hardware. I like to make stuff to trick out Mustangs to make them faster. I'm glad you're enjoying my hobby!

I was asking because it looked like you didn't have the car for long. It appears you got to modding rather quickly!

I plan on tossing the fogs and using the same location. Seems it was made for it.

Is one bottle enough for a full bleed?

One bottle will put you real close to a full bleed. You will need spare fluid after that.

Be DAMN sure you don't get air in the MC or worse yet, the ABS system.

The Castrol is the best stuff money can buy. :coolman:

By keeping the reservoir topped off, that should prevent air in the MC or ABS, right?

Any good write-ups on a full fluid change? Does changing to this fluid change the feel of the clutch at all? What about ATE and Motul, are those fluids substantially inferior to the Castrol?
I'm interested in the Cooling ducts as well, but havent seen them installed on a Gt w/o the boss/cs fascia.

Keep a close eye on the M/C reservoir. Take it down keeping a close eye on it and well back lit with a trouble light. Once it's close to 1/4 full or so, be conservative, add the new fluid and keep bleeding.

I'm sure ATE and Motul work well for some people but I'm a believer in Castro SRF.

Our ducts work on ALL S-197 vehicles, V-6, GT, Boss, Shelby, Roush, Saleen and what have you.

The front fascia you will have to figure out for yourself. Make sure you have a good duct that scoops air well up front.
