If it happens again Demod it before taking it back to the dealer. I went through 3 mt82's all replaced under warranty with full bolt ons and a rst clutch. My dealer here in south Florida is really cool about mods but the third time they called it in ford sent a rep to see what the hell was going on. Long story short as soon as he saw the longtubes and clutch, denied my warranty. If I would've known they were sending a rep I would've demodded it but since they had done it twice already without a problem I thought third time would be the same. I don't get it I went to a lawyer and everything to lemon the car he said I had a really strong case but I just bought a t56 and called it a day. I love my car too much to let it go. I'm still gonna try and fight it so hopefully I can recover some of the money I spent on the t56. Ford sells a roush stage 3 with 550 hp and an mt82 from the dealer. So when they tell u yours mods blew it up theyr full of $hit!!!!

I'll keep that in mind. They replaced the first one @7.5k miles, and it already had all the boltons in my sig on it then. So far I've been really lucky.

All these mt82 horror stories. I honestly like the transmission a lot. The feel, the gearing etc. But they're just not durable. Ford should just have a TSB with new internals for them.

Don't get me wrong I love the way the transmission shifted and the gearing was perfect!!! It just doesn't hold. And I know there are ppl out there with tons of power going through these mt82 but its just luck of the draw. If u get a good one lucky u. If u get a bad one or 3 for that matter it sux balls.

Transmission is done. Now they're just trying to get the clutch bled.

so your transmission would drive fine during cruising, but not go into 2nd or 3rd at WOT and they said it's done?
I'm taking my shifter and bracket off tonight or tomorrow, and also the midpipe and bringing it in monday.

Sorry, tranny isn't "done", meant they're done working on it. They replaced the 2nd gear synchro. They're now bleeding the clutch.

Bringing this back up. They ended up putting a new clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, input shaft, 2nd gear synchros, and 1-2 shift fork. All under warranty. I did the 500 mile break in on the clutch, and it still won't shift into 2nd under WOT. The dealership ordered a new transmission today.

Jeeeze 3rd trans?! I bet you feel like swapping in an autotragic at this point.
Between my son and I we've had five 2011+ 5.0's with 4 of them being manuals. None have had issues at all. I have 20k on my current one.
Must be defective ones out there or driver error/abuse.
Best of luck to you!

I don't see mine being driver error or abuse, as it's only been to the track twice, and is mostly driven to and from work. Besides, it's not like this is the first manual I've ever owned.

Psh brah you obviously just can't drive. You have to have your shift arm pissed on by angels and rinsed in holy water to drive the mt-82 correctly. If yours broke its cause you suck.

Or so I people will tell you.

I did say must be defective ones out there or driver error/abuse...
You most likely have one of the defective ones.
Not saying this is you, but there are plenty of people out there that have driven manuals for years with terrible abusive habits and think they can drive.

So what does tht say about the MT-82? All these non-driving hacks managed to not grenade their trannies in other cars that have been slaving away for 100, 150, or 200K miles but when they get behind an MT82, the thing fails at 10K miles or less?

There's no way you and your family have 4 MT-82s that are operating perfectly. Either they dont get driven hard, have not developed issues yet, or you guys make excuses for the poor performance of the transmission.

EDIT: Im not saying there arent perfectly operating MT-82s out there, Im just saying the instances of failure and improper operation are too high and unacceptable

Oh look, another failed Getrag thread. Bwahahahaha!!!

I have the same issue. The transmission runs like brand new during cruising/low RPMs, but once you go WOT, it locks me out of 2nd and sometimes 3rd. I have a barton shifter and bracket. I think I'm going to be bringing it in... I'm just worried they're going to find out about the tune...

So what...auto is on the way. WIN!!!

glad I traded my 11 6M for the 12 AUTO

Smart man
