Took the wife out to the movies yesterday so she could see a movie she has been dying to see (The Conjuring, and yes, it sucked) As we pulled out of the parking lot onto the main street just out of nowhere and i mean nowhere a white ZL1 just blows past us. As he goes by us of course he felt the need to give me a high RPM rev LoL.

Ive been wanting to race one of these for so long and here was my chance to try one. I guess i took to long to speed up to catch the ZL1 because my wife asked if i needed to pull over so she could race him as if i was scared HA HA HA.

I caught up to him at the next light but i was behind him and as we waited for the green light so he could speed up and change lanes so we would be side by side, he was revving his car about 37 times at this red light.

So the light turns green, he speeds up and changes lanes i speed up and get beside him. He had no passenger (for those of you that like to argue about power to weight ratio). I dropped to second gear and he honked it off and off we went like two bats out of hell.

We were side by side at the start of second going into 3rd i put half a car on him (his front end was at my rear fender) at the top of 3rd i went into 4th gear as my heart was pounding and my damn wife was screaming LoL. At the top of forth i had him easy by a car maybe a shade over then shut down at the top of 4th gear about 125/130 MPH i would say.

We only ran once but it was fun. At the next light the guy pulled up and said nice car and told me he had exhuast with a tune he didnt say if he had a pulley change or not so i dont know. We talked for a few seconds about my car and what i had done. He was a pretty cool guy too, he invited me to a car cruise that welcomes all makes and models.

ZL1 = HIGHLY over rated. Good kill. Always good to hear when someone, ANYONE, takes one down.

Were you keeping your foot to the floor when shifting? Agreed I figured this would've been worse for the ZL but good kill!! Unless the ZL1 owner was down playing his real mods......

For sure his ZL1 was not stock. Who knows what the mods were. I would really like to know though. He said just exhuast and a tune, the thing was fast! ill give him that.

With your mods he was lying. Had to be. I bet he had a fully built motor to keep up like that (lol).

I ran a ZL1 about 5 months ago. Smoked that bitche in my ported 2.76 upper only by about 4 car lengths on the highway. Went about 145mph (fastest I've ever run in this car) and motioned for him to pull over at the rest stop so I could get more info. He motioned with his little middle finger, as he got raped. As he started to fade away I got anxious to row into 5th to drop the exclamation point on him, especially since so many fear the 5th gear...

Too bad some can't show some dignity when setting up a spontaneous run.

Sounds about right. Was it a automatic or stick? I know some have trapped close to 120 mph stock.

Good Kill O.P! Been wanting to catch one myself, have only see one black one. I also don't think it was stock for him to keep up with you as well.

ZL1's being slow is greatly exaggerated...........good kill.

ZL1's being fast is greatly exaggerated.

2013 GT with axlebacks and tune > ZL1...for tens of thousands less.

03/04 Cobra > ZL1...for far less money.

2013 Camaro SS + Magnacharger > ZL1...for less money if you're a Camaro fan.

I mean, come on...a new ZL1 is more expensive than a NEW C6 Corvette and near new Grand Sport pricing. That's ridiculous.

The ZL1 is a 6.2L V8 with a supercharger...and you are telling me that an axleback and a tune should be able to overcome that?

A stock 2013 GT500 would lay WASTE to that same GT with the same mods and costs the same money as the ZL1.

Like I said, VERY over rated. Every time one is mentioned, everyone wants to talk about why it's so great...but when one gets smashed, the excuses show up quick. It's always, "That wasn't a fair race...etc."

It's ok to disagree:beer:, I'd take a ZL1 over every car you mentioned tho.
