I had a bolt on 5th gen camaro. It was a car or two faster than my old stock 6.1 hemi. But my new 392 charger would walk all over it and its stock. To me the camaro is a ok DD but is built like shit.

The 5.0's seem to consistently outperform the s/c cobras while making the same or less power. I have seen 420+ whp cobras run what stock 5.0s do and trap the same or less. You don't see simple intake/catback cobras that make 420 whp trap 118-120+ like 5.0s do making the same power on a regular basis.

Hell a local guy did 12.0 @ 118 mph with just a ****ing tune on his 5.0 on bigs and littles. Cobra is not touching that without way more mods. Tune only Cobras are not even in the same realm. Fact.

This happened at tulsa.... Another local guy did 11.9 @ 115 stock at tulsa. Yes I can cite my sources.

Here's one of the pics/vids from his 11.9 run stock on radials. Stock cobras are barely within a full second of that time! Be real!

so the LS1 thing didn't work out and now you're a 5.0 nut swinger?

There no stock or tune only cobras running 11.9-12.0 or faster. Thanks for proving my point.

5.0's have ran 10's with bolt ons too..... and they haven't been out over a decade.

you're something special there kiddo ;-)

Stock cobras can run 11's? :read:

.
What's your idea of stock? Stock tires?

The fastest with stock tires was around 12.4 if I recall.

With slicks I think there are a few that went faster than 12.

Are there any completely stock 5.0s with stock tires that can run 11's? If so please post a link.

The REAL meaning of stock is everything that came on the car from the factory. If dr's are added then it is NOT stock. No cobra nor 5.0 has ran in the 11's stock. There is a tune only coyote that broke 11's though.

This is not towards specifically but to all who think other wise.

Bro, kill the motor! Lol. Are you scraping the bottom of the barrel now and comparing tune only terminators to a new 5.0. This conversation has never been about a 5.0 vs anything less than a pulled cobra. That's the whole point. We all know the new 5.0 is 420HP. Of course that's going to outperform a 390 Cobra. NOW, when the Cobra makes 450 with a pulley and near 500 with other simple bolt ons, THEN the Cobra has the advantage with even more room to grow with a forged rotating assembly and lower compression vs a high compression 5.0 that will be limited. That's the whole debate. Don't get all mad. The 5.0 is a great motor. LOL @ 5.0 owners who don't seem to even know what a terminator is, or is capable of. This debate will never end as terminators continue to depreciate and become even more affordable to mod with whipples or turbos. The 5.0 will have to depreciate more before its a more cost effective route than a terminator.

A bolt on coyote in the 10's? Must have nitrous. Just seen the vid of a bolt on coyote with nitorus beat a lambo in the other thread.

Finally someone is talking sense! This always ends up being such a sensitive subject to talk about, but it's the truth. You can't compare a forged internal engine with one that isn't. The new 5.0 is a beast, but in the long run the 4.6 maybe be smaller, but it's built to handle boost and lots of it. And in return you get a ton of power.

^^^ but in real life nobody gets judged on a handicap of how much cash you do or don't have. Plenty of people think that spending a few grand to get forged internals in there 5.0 is pocket change so there goes that advantage.

I love cobras, kinda want one as a daily beater myself
