ZR1's aren't anything special. You can build a faster Z06 for less than a ZR1. Why buy the name plate.
& you can build a faster fox body cheaper than all of them. Your post is just stupid. Anything can be made fast if you have the time & $. That was not the point here.

ZR1s aren't anything special LOL wow...

This is the second time u have failed at proving a point. The fox comment doesn't work in this case because he is compared a vette to a vette....same interior and comfort features. So yes he is correct. U could make a z06 faster for less money. A zr1 really is not special... fast yes but special not even close

Viper for me. I'm usually not a snob about interiors, but the Gen 5 has a far nice interior than the C6, and it's nice enough that I wouldn't feel like I missed out TOO much on not choosing the F-Type. I think the Viper is much better looking than C6 and I personally can't stand the plexiglass hood window that just shows a plastic engine cover.

Also, I don't see how anyone could think the F-Type is more "special" than a Viper. The F-Type is a more common car and there are "lesser" V6 and V6S models under the R. The Viper gets the top dog V10 no matter what version you buy. It's a non-issue for me though because I don't really care. The lack of a manual option on the F-Type R settles it for me anyway.

I figured a GT-R would be comparable... Maybe even a Porsche 911 but outta the two, definitely the Viper

Of course you would. Which of those three cars are going to hang with a pullied/tune ZR1? Because lets face facts most interactions with other cars happen on the interstate.

It is truly sad that is all you buy you're cars for or this is the only mindset you have to any car comparison lol...funny but sad. OK I'll play this sad and played out game with you, a modded GT-R or Turbo 911 will hand with a pullied zr1 and 50% of the time will be highway the other 50 will be at stoplight. Guess which car would need a rape whistle ??

Your sentence structure is baffling me or is it your spelling/lack of punctuation? Maybe you're mad? Not everyone buys cars for your purposes. The OP asked which car Viper or ZR1? Not which Euro car is the best. ZR1's are monsters, stock and modded. Put a set of DR's on a ZR1 and run the GTR from a dead, it'll be close with the ZR1 reeling the GTR in like it had an anchor attached. Unless we're talking UGR, but not everyone needs to spend 5 - 6 figures in mods to make their car's run.

lol@me being mad or you having a hard time reading my sentence structure. The OP made an option in the poll that said "other car", did you see it???? I know others did which is how the cars we are discussing now even came to the topic. And All three cars we are discussing are comparable to the vette. also lol@ you thinking you need ugr to make a gtr incredibly fast. 911 turbo is just a better car than both gtr and vette all around.

911 turbo is a great car, but how does price compare with a used ZR1 or viper?

Whaaat? Maybe for a 996 turbo. Are the late model 997s really that low now?

Id still take a 13+ viper. I wonder if treynor will get a viper acr when it comes out.

90k for a 996 turbo hahahaha...yea man you are seriously out of the loop. I would take a 911 over a viper of course but I am not much of a turbo 911 fan so it would be a GT3. GT3's are higher than the turbos of course. I just can't bring myself to spend than kinda money on a track toy. Makes much more sense to me to spend 100k+ on a daily...but with the GT350 on the way there is no need for me to look at GT3's or any of the other Euro's that were on my shopping list. The GT350 allows me to have my cake and eat it too

Owning both I'll say that they both are truly amazing cars. They both do what they are supposed to do incredibly well. I didn't go through this thread but I'm guessing that you are aware that as far as performance goes, they are practically identical. With that being said, I would say go with the one that you seem to gravitate more towards. For my likings, the Viper (in this version, TA model) gets the nod. The one thing that the Viper can offer that no Vette can, is exclusivity. Even though ZR's are actually pretty rare, based on appearance there in no exclusivity.

The ZR delivers down low while the Viper hits hard up top. This my feeling, the ZR a better street weapon, Viper better on the track. Not to mention NA is definitely better on the track. Even though on paper the ZR has the superior brakes, The TA's brakes are just about equally impressive. The ZR's shifter and interior are both really dated compared to the Gen V Viper. The ZR is naturally the more compromising of the two and more user friendly. The cabin in the Viper is tight and really tough on guys north of 6 feet. Even with the nannies, the snake bites and bites hard...this is certainly not to say you wont get bit by the ZR, so take warning.

Aftermarket/Modding and Tech - ZR def wins this category. Exclusivity comes with a price. I mod everything and my Viper will not get modded in the near future. Anyway, there really is no wrong selection between these 2 Amierican Icons. Good luck!!

Ok, so I just went through this thread and I'll make a few more comments.

First, I read someone say the the Viper is Dodge junk. Don't believe this. I may like the Viper better but I am a realist and not into selling cars. The Viper in my opinion, and in the opinion of many Viper owners who previously owned vettes, feel the Viper is a better built car....Esp. the new ones. Vettes are massed produced while Vipers are hand built AND hand painted. I do feel that the LS9 is for surely a stout engine but I don't feel that way about the rest of the Vette line up as I do with Vipers.

Fit n Finish - The ZR is no comp for the Gen V Viper here. Ive been to Prefix where they paint the Vipers-absolutely amazing. My Viper has no orange peel, can not say the same for the ZR.

All being said, there are some serious deals out there on the ZR1. The Vipers are now more of a bargain since Dodge/SRT made the price adjustment, but there are now unmolested ZR's in the 60's......HUGE BARGAIN for such an awesome car.

C7Z-hmmmm, the jury is still out and as far as right now, I think Chevy waaaay over hyped this car. Not that impressed so far and I don't think in any way is this car going to "completely destroy" the ZR1 or Gen V Viper......

Thanks bobafett, very insightful post as I have been teetering with the same idea.
Also, I was unaware the ZR1 was available in velocity yellow.
