Everything about your post is completely ridiculous lol. I had to show a few friends so we could start our day with a good laugh. You don't have a single correct fact in your post about a GTR. Doesn't weight 4,000 pounds, does not have a VQ series altima engine. Actually, nearly all American auto maker brands are in the mid-low tier for quality in their automobiles. Toyota, Honda and Nissan actually lead automakers with quality standards. I am actually willing to bet you have never seen a GTR at a track day, let alone see one" shit the bed" due to a transmission issue.

I don't agree with most of what he said, but....

Nissan was beat by every US brand except 3. Leading from behind it seems

ADM? I don't care what car it is, I'd never pay it. Go GT-R. I'd go GT-R even if the 350R was at MSRP.

Every one says the the r is worthy. Hell mt said it's worth 25k over msrp. Randy said he liked it better than a car going well above the 100k msrp most are specked at.

The GT350 R is a lot of car for the money. After all you only get carbon fiber wheels in million dollar super cars, high revving N/A v8 engines in hardly anything this days, add the Magnetic suspension, and its history and you have one heck of a car. The GTR is a beast but it also starts at 100k plus. Would I pay 100K for a GT350 R? If I had the money and I was not able to buy one at a reasonably price I probably would. That doesn't take anything away from the GTR which like I said, it's a beast of a car. Being realistic however, I would be happy with a GT350 with track pack.

GT-R much faster in a straight line. GT350R more fun.

Storing this for winter...

I wouldnt take either for roughly $60k, Camaro z28 is what i would buy for that kind of cash but thats just me

Funny

Please do tell us how the GT350R you drove was…. You have an 04 Cobra.. talk about real heat issues LOL The GT350R will have its hands full against the new 1LE Camaro, the GT-R is another level. Might as well buy a Miata if you want a reliable track car instead of an ovrpriced Mustang or “boosted Altima”

A Japanese car that was never sold in the US finally made its entry and whooped on American and Exotic cars for a low price. Would you not call that history?

GT350R is faster around Laguna Seca and comparable at the Ring vs the GTR. For thousands less.

Still a tough call. IMO the cars are completely different animals. I would try to be patient enough to wait for a test drive in a GT350 before making that decision if I was neutral.

Buy a used miata and spend the other $75000 on a lifetime supply of tires and track days...

That is, if you really want to drive. If you wanna ride around on the street and do roll races and look super cool, get the gtr.

The older track package Z06 was faster than the GT-R in laguna seca as well, there arent any official times for the GT350R other than “low 1:30’s”. GT-R’s have never performed as well as sports cars in that track but shines in the others. Was a bit critical saying its another league, ill admit it.

The fastest track time in the Ring was 7:35 I believe for the GT350R, the older “slower” GT-R’s were running about 10 sec’s faster vs the 350R’s time. Not comparable at all, at least not for that track.

The GT-R already made its name in the tracks, the GT350R is at the moment nothing but SPECULATION AND HYPE. Many of us will have a different view once its finally out, whether its for the good or bad.

If I'm spending 60k+ on a sports car I want it to stand out a little and be special. I know ford has to sell all kinds of mustangs to make the higher end models possible but there are too many Ecoboost,v6 and GTs for me to spend that much money on a 350r.

Viper all day

I was serious. I'm in love with z28

That's cool and all, but it's not as fast as the GT350.

If you are really interested in one I have one on my showroom floor that I can sell for $15k off MSRP.

7:32 Ring for the GT350R

According to Evo, the new Ford Shelby GT350R Mustang has lapped the Green Hell in a blitzkrieg 7:32.19. That's more than five seconds faster than the Z/28, and propels the GT350R into proper supercar territory: incrementally quicker than the Ferrari 458 Italia and in league with lap times posted by the Nissan GT-R (though not the fastest Godzilla has clocked over the years).

I always found it interesting that sport auto ring test were always a lot slower, 10+ seconds, than Nissan and gm factory tests but fairly close to Porsche factory tests. Interesting. Sport auto 11 gtr ran a 34. Right in line with the speculative R tests.

A lot of fail in this thread...

OP - I would pick the GT-R and drive it for a year or two until GT-350R prices drop down and then trade off. You can't really go wrong with either because both are unique in their own way.

Thats a tough one.
For me, the GT-R is a square peg in a round hole.
Still fun to drive, but different cars.

Please tell us how the new 1le will keep up with a 991 gt3? The new 1le might keep up with the old z28 but still significantly slower than the r.

The R34 is by far the best. I do not like the new GTR's and I am not sure how I feel about the gt350 yet.

Curious to the retro GTR lovers. What do you not like about the new one? Is it the cosmetics? Not sure how you could not like the powerplant.
