After a lot of reading and gathering basic parts my project is finally underway. I have been around cars and trucks my whole life but I am still learning a lot about the specifics in engine building. I have become a big fan of built, not bought. So this is a huge hands on learning process for me so if you guys can bear with me lol..This will be my second 03/04 cobra, only I learned my lesson the first time. If you have the time, funds, and patience... build the motor first. As much as I want to get back behind the wheel I believe the smarter route for me is to build to my specs, over time, and then drop her in a terminator when ready. So here's the scoop..
93 Teksid mk8 block (stock bore)
03 Cobra crank
03 Manley H beam svt rods
(Leaning towards JE pistons)
Arp mains and sides
I had actually started this project a few months ago with a 96 teksid mk8 block but we determined a pre existing cylinder chip would need a complete resleeve. I had the opportunity to buy another block locally at a good price so It made more since to buy the second block for half the price of a single cylinder resleeve. So now I have an extra teksid, not a big deal.
So #2 is at the shop for wash, inspection, and line hone. The crank will also be recieving Ed's crank snout mod.
My plan for this build is also somewhat of an experiment. I want to run an 11:1cr (e85)with a ported eaton @15-17psi with custom cams from Todd Warren (na_svt) I understand this has been done before but seems to be a road less traveled. I really want to see if I can hit 650hp on an eaton powered 4.6. I have also had a few breif conversations with Todd about running 99/01 heads with a complete valve job and possibly some p&p. Going to cross that bridge when we get there depending on the available 03-05 heads available at the time. Trying not to get too ahead of myself, I will post pictures and try to keep this updated as I go...
