How do you think these two would pair out performance wise??

My brother just purchased the 2017 GT with 727 hp with Roush supercharger installed by dealer.

Will he blow my doors off?? I have a stock 2014 GT500.

My big question to him is how the stock GT clutch can handle 727 hp when the GT500 has a bigger better clutch with lesser hp.

IMO there is no way the GT has 727 hp, You have more torque by a long shot. that being said your car weighs more.
I say you win big time if you can drive and not spin the tires.
Good luck, Nelco

Roush claims their Phase 2 Supercharger "boosts performance to 727 horsepower for the 2015-2017 Ford Mustang 5.0L V8."

According to a 2012 Autoblog article about our cars, "the GT500 engine generates its massive thrust throughout its operating range with 395 lb.-ft. of torque available just off idle at 1,000 rpm. More than 90 percent of the peak torque is available from 2,200 to 5,800 rpm so that no matter when you squeeze the go pedal, the GT500 will just get up and run.

I think the power curves tell the story... Note that Roush's curve starts at 2000 RPM, where their car produces less than 150HP and 400ft-lbs of torque. Our cars produce that kind of torque at 1000 RPM and HP around 1500RPM. At 2000RPM, we're well over 200HP and almost 550ft-lbs of torque. The power curves begin favoring Roush over 6000RPM. Our cars are, admittedly, about 150lbs heavier. All of that said, I do not think he'll "blow your doors off."

The bottom line for me is Shelby > Roush.

Run em and let us know. I agree with what Norton is saying about torque. I just ran Barber Motorsports Park and never got out of 3rd gear. Trying to be smooth around a very tight track was a blast but the torque was truly amazing. Had a Miata driver for instructor and he could not believe the power.

Your biggest issue will be if you get traction or not.

If you get traction, you should pull him.

Im curious as well were there any other upgrades to drivetrain and such?

How well does a stock 5.0 hold up to 700+hp?

S197 vs s550 there are huge suspension and body stiffness differences. S550 has dual front ball joint front end for a much more linear bump steer, and of course IRS. This does assume you want the car to turn, as well as go in a straight line.

How do the stock internals handle almost another 300 hp and remain reliable? Our cars can do 200 hp more which puts us at 750 whp. After that it's a toss up for the stock block, so another 300 on a 5.0. Wow

Something else to consider about is if your '14 has the stock 3.31 rear gears vs the roush 3.73. That could make a diff. plus your tires and traction.

^^^ so my point is, get a good jump on him, and stay off the road course.

Disagree to a point with this. I have watched some GT350s on track that were just in the way. Driver is the key, more than the car in many cases. A Track Pack GT500 is far better than a 17 GT with a blower unless the suspension and braking are considerably better. A full on Stage 3 Roush with Roush Trak Pak brakes could be another matter, but I would love to find out!

I'd assume the 727HP GT would win that foot race . Then again the GT is at the top of their power level while the GT500 is not. Hot tune & 373's could easily be a game changer . Pulley, tune, CAI, TB...373's bye-bye.

Going to find out on Black Friday. There is a old stone quarry that has a nice wide road leading to it (about 4 lanes wide) and the quarry has been closed since the 1980's. We used to race on this road in the late 1960's and 70's before the quarry even closed. Should I post the results here or on road kill?
