2012 Mustang GT with an MT82

L&M short block, stock heads, stock cams, 11:1, boss manifold
D1sc Procharger, Race intercooler, wastegated, 3.55 pulley, 8 rib serp belt
Full exhaust
Return fuel system with e85 and meth injection

It's been about 9 months since I really got to stretch the cars legs but it sure was worth the wait. I stopped beating on the car after backing up another 9 second pass for fear of throwing a rod. In June I had the stock short block removed in favor of an L&M unit topped with my stock heads and cams.

I spent 4-5 weeks putting some miles on the new setup and decided it was time to upgrade the Procharger stage 2 intercooler. A week later the Procharger Race intercooler came in and I hit up Lund Racing for the tune revision. It needed quite a few since the whole MAF curve had to be redone and my response time wasn't the greatest with the logs.

Now it was time to up the boost. I scheduled appointments with Dasan @ Lund Racing and Race Proven Motorsports for dyno time. I cut out of work early to load the car up on the trailer all while having a huge knot in my stomach. I was a nervous wreck. It's not that I don't trust the tuner or engine builder but if something goes wrong i'm out of the car game for a bit.

Dyno time - First pull was taken up to 5500rpm in 4th gear (mt82, 3.31 gears, 28" tire) and I hit the dyno brake. It made 695whp and 660wtq!

With no tune revision necessary the 2nd pull was taken up to 6500rpm. It made 749whp but the tach signal killed the torque reading.

The third pull was a full pull up to 7400rpm with it making 774whp 684wtq at 15.6psi. I was asked if I wanted to stop there as the tune was very conservative. Since I was running more timing with the stock engine I told him to turn it up.

The 4th pulled netted 818whp and 715wtq. Quite a jump in power from a few degrees of timing. We looked at the dyno chart in RPM this time vs MPH and you could see belt slip once it hit 15psi. I went a notch tighter on the tensioner and made another pull.

The 5th pull netted 825whp and 724wtq at 16.5psi but the power carried out an additional 1000rpm after peak this time. I tapped out at that power level and told Lund i'm happy where it sits. I still think there is some belt slip up top but i'm hesitant to tighten the belt anymore. I'll figure it out with either a cog drive, 12 rib, or i'm just to light on the belt tension.

The Procharger stuff is a big catch since its cheap to do small upgrades. I know my car would make 80-100whp and tq more with the same boost on a turbo kit.

Booyeah! Awesome power levels there man. Love the vid, especially baking them off at 50mph under the overpass... nice sound effects in that area, hahaa.

Really gotta respect a car like that, otherwise you end up like Paul Walker and his buddy. Stay safe.

Hey, what's that gauge you have in the vent pod? Looks nice. Can you see the numbers OK with sunglasses on? Looks like you have six readouts, is that right? I have Aeroforce gauge with dual readouts and it has crappy LED display that DISAPPEARS with sunglasses on.

Looks like the nGuage from Lund.

Bad ass! Congrats.
Nice numbers! Impressive!
Thanks guys!

Nice numbers. How did you do your wastegate?
Tial 44mm MVR mounted on the first metal discharge pipe facing towards the crank pulley. It's not ideal but you're really limited on space and it has to be mounted before the intercooler.

Thanks! It can get a tad hairy with it spinning 3rd gear on drag radials up to 100mph. I'm going to try out the MT ET street R drag radial on my street wheels next.

The gauge is the Lund Racing version of the Ngauge which is also my tuning software. I added the boost plus box and fuel pressure sensors so I can datalog everything going on with the car. It has push button datalogging capabilities and is very user friendly.

As far as sunglasses i'm not sure. I have auto darkening prescription glasses and don't have any problems. I will say with the angle of the gauge in the vent pod it's tough to see on a sunny day. That due to the reflection of the sky across the face of the gauge. I'm sure their suction mount probably doesn't have that issue.

Looks like the nGuage from Lund.
You called it

Awesome man! I saw lunds post on Facebook with the videos. That car has some balls! You must be super pumped.

Would you want to make any more power than that? At what point do you think it's completely unstreetable?

How'd the race intercooler bolt up? Any changes need to be made?

I was shocked to see Lund put that up. I have a small instagram account that was mainly friends and i woke up to 40 plus followers and hundreds of likes lol...

I feel with a tire change the car will be fine on the street. If not I can put a boost controller on the waste gate and do boost by gear.

The race intercooler is the same length and height as the stage 2 but it's 1" thicker. The front clip has to be trimmed accordingly. The stage 2 intercooler is only rated for 650 flywheel hp where the race is good for 1000.

nice numbers, what kind of timing are you running, you mentioned you increased it for the final pulls but was just curious of the number?

Why use the wastegate with a built block? Shouldn't it be good for near 1khp? Congrats looks like a fun car.

Yes, it should be good for about 1000 flywheel hp. Im probably close to that number as it sits so i'm using the wastegate .

it sees about 22 degrees up top

I read his post as he may add a wastegate so he can get traction... lol... Lower boost in lower gears for the street. Interesting idea.

I had some fun up at Pocono Raceway a few weeks back. This event is a 1600ft roll race starting at 60mph on Pocono's straight. The belt was slipping during the pulls so it would only see about 14psi. I still had fun regardless

Nice- I seen they do this a few times a year at pocona, do you get any type of mph slip at all and if so what was your fast mph?
