2012 Mustang GT with an MT82
L&M short block, stock heads, stock cams, 11:1, boss manifold
D1sc Procharger, Race intercooler, wastegated, 3.55 pulley, 8 rib serp belt
Full exhaust
Return fuel system with e85 and meth injection
It's been about 9 months since I really got to stretch the cars legs but it sure was worth the wait. I stopped beating on the car after backing up another 9 second pass for fear of throwing a rod. In June I had the stock short block removed in favor of an L&M unit topped with my stock heads and cams.
I spent 4-5 weeks putting some miles on the new setup and decided it was time to upgrade the Procharger stage 2 intercooler. A week later the Procharger Race intercooler came in and I hit up Lund Racing for the tune revision. It needed quite a few since the whole MAF curve had to be redone and my response time wasn't the greatest with the logs.
Now it was time to up the boost. I scheduled appointments with Dasan @ Lund Racing and Race Proven Motorsports for dyno time. I cut out of work early to load the car up on the trailer all while having a huge knot in my stomach. I was a nervous wreck. It's not that I don't trust the tuner or engine builder but if something goes wrong i'm out of the car game for a bit.
Dyno time - First pull was taken up to 5500rpm in 4th gear (mt82, 3.31 gears, 28" tire) and I hit the dyno brake. It made 695whp and 660wtq!
With no tune revision necessary the 2nd pull was taken up to 6500rpm. It made 749whp but the tach signal killed the torque reading.
The third pull was a full pull up to 7400rpm with it making 774whp 684wtq at 15.6psi. I was asked if I wanted to stop there as the tune was very conservative. Since I was running more timing with the stock engine I told him to turn it up.
The 4th pulled netted 818whp and 715wtq. Quite a jump in power from a few degrees of timing. We looked at the dyno chart in RPM this time vs MPH and you could see belt slip once it hit 15psi. I went a notch tighter on the tensioner and made another pull.
The 5th pull netted 825whp and 724wtq at 16.5psi but the power carried out an additional 1000rpm after peak this time. I tapped out at that power level and told Lund i'm happy where it sits. I still think there is some belt slip up top but i'm hesitant to tighten the belt anymore. I'll figure it out with either a cog drive, 12 rib, or i'm just to light on the belt tension.
