Anyone else frustrated with Ford over the next GT500?

Let's face it. This is piss poor marketing. First you release a teaser and then follow up with nothing. Then you have some clown say "Venom Kills Demons". Let me address that statement. A Demon with Race Gas is Dyno'd at 780bhp to the wheels. Not crank. Wheels. Explain to me how the GT500 us going to "KILL" that.

If Ford thinks beating a Demon around a track is "killing" a Demon, they are going to be laughed at. The Demon is a drag car. Straight line muscle. And the marketing and hype behind it were Top Notch.

I will say this...the Demon was over hyped. 9.65@140. Literally NOBODY is even coming close to those times. Nobody. It was a one-time HERO run by a pro driver that's like 5 feet tall and 100 pounds. Perfect conditions. Glue on track. No seats. Skinnies.

The GT500 is gonna be a great car. But no way it is going to Kill a Demon. And no way Ford even had a Demon to test against. So they need to shut up with comments like that cause they will come back to bite them. But like other's have said...doesn't matter. Every single GT500 will sell for years to come. You don't need to market these enthusiast cars.

Remind us what the Demon weighs again?

Sales won't be affected. lol
Nick, you seem to know more details about this car than the rest of us John Q public. Would you say you know 100% of the production version? 80%? Is this through gossip or does my local dealer know the same info?

I'll just leave it at "Ford is in a transitional period."

There are a bunch of smart people at Ford that are currently in a less-than-optimal situation that I think will resolve itself organically within the next 12-24 months.

Historically Ford has been a very "Game of Thrones" environment. There are always knives being sharpened somewhere. Always.

I'd say 85%. Probably just a notch more than your local dealer.

I agree with your first statement about being transitional.

Unfortunately when there is so many internal parts moving to a new goal/plan, it's hard to knock out projects that weren't completed, but already started.

Thanks Nick. That just seems like a lot of people to keep quiet. And they have obviously.

If I remember correctly, the first GT350 customer deliveries were at the end of 2015. I think it safe to say that in general, the car was done by the beginning of 2015 (at the very least). It does seem like it has taken quite a while already with an unchartered waiting period still yet to come for the GT500. I don't know at what point Ford feels it best to get the ball rolling and to build momentum but I hope something starts to trickle out soon.

I would think we would see it about 6 months before its actually brought to market. They say calendar year 2019 vehicle, so I'm thinking we see full reveal at the end of this year, and very limited numbers built for MY2019.

Pound you too, eh?

They tried, I said forget this new Ford performance gt500 project and the ridiculous wait time/ price jumping. Built up my 03 cobra to 1200whp and widdled it down to 3400lbs with a full interior intact and a full road racing suspension, cobra r brakes, etc in 2015/16. Been enjoying it for over 2 years.

No complaints. I’ve been pounding the hell out of hellcats, the boosted chevys, and gt500’s, etc like they are Honda Civic si’s and m3’s. Liter bikes are fun.

I miss the John Colletti days...

I hope I’m right and you’re wrong but honestly you’re probably right.

I’m anticipating an April 18 reveal, order banks in May/June/July 18, (I don’t know the timing on those) and a limited November/December 2018 release of like 500 cars, with the majority being 19/20 at about 2500-5000 per year.

That said, it’s a lock that it’s on sale 2019.

That'd be nice if it played out that way.

Losing a bit of interest honestly. Maybe once it hits the debut I may get back into this car, but until then,.........**shrugs shoulders**
I'm sure there a lot of people still anxiously awaiting this car, as this thread shows. I still am, but not as much as I was. That may change once I get to see what the car looks like and what it's performance numbers are.
I wonder if it will run low/mid 10's like the Z06 does with just drag radials?? Should be interesting.

I will just leave this here...
Old news. It's been posted already, not sure in this thread or another 2019 GT500 thread.
So according to this video, the new GT500 will run low to mid 9's?!?!! I guess it's a possibility as some supercharged '18 GT's are running 10's. Only time will tell.

I think Jim owens would have gotten on social media, be it twitter or FB to say, "guys, in that video, I was meaning to say Hellcat, but demon slipped out, and that note to the PR guy, well, that said Hellcat too", we're STILL on our way...hahahha."

Trying to break down metaphor and innuendo into something concrete is like trying to analyze a turd.
