What part of SC are they in?
Berkeley county. Up off highway 41 in the middle of BFE.
What part of SC are they in?
I would be understandably shocked to find out that this was decided with the help of any true experts.
Do you not see that if we start to produc[e] said steel and aluminum HERE, we won't have to worry about the tariff? That's why businesses HERE are excited. They see it as an opportunity.
...
I'm understanding it as. We set the import tariff, import cost goes up and trickles down from the supplier to the consumer.
...
It's essentially just making American made goods cost more, which is currently already the problem?
...
^the benefit of capitalism is that if some company was so inclined to exploit a reasonable steel tariff and the relatable costs to that extent, then a company could come out with a me-phone at $1100, a must-have rwd coupe for $27,999, and so on.
Capitalism let’s the consumer have choices because it doesn’t use government controlled business.
The cogs on an iPhone or mustang could double and the price would only need at most a 25% increase. Cogs rarely breech 10-25% of a product cost. If cogs go high enough that tariff wars commence, companies will find innovative ways to produce in America again before they will double or triple the retail price of their product. Once ahain, capitalism gives a plethora of capital controls to the free market.
Some company may choose to raise price 3 fold and carry on, but when others assess the market conditions, and swat analysis we’ll, they’ll do the profitable thing and facilitate the most demand via smart supply.
I engineer and sell automation equipment for industrial processes.
It doesn't matter what the MSM says. Without a doubt we are seeing a massive bump in US based capitol equipment spending that started with the tax plan and is continuing with the tariff. This is hard, verifiable data. Americans are going to benefit for generations to come because of this.
.
You fail to see the irony of using capitalism to defend a socialist policy.
I wonder wear the Keynesian are to declare parasitic pricing on China. They are quick to call a tariff uncapitalistic but forget to mention it’s because China is trying to bankrupt American steel with parasitic pricing, dumping, and further buying up industries it bankrupts to form monopolistic power over price and supply. Doesn’t sound very Keynesian to me.
See below quote.
And that's it in a nutshell. Then there will be gnashing of teeth when a base model 4-banger Mustang costs $40K, a new iPhone costs $5K, a can of WD-40 costs $15, etc. (Extreme examples used for effect.)
Lol a 4banger already cost 40k. Go look yourself. I have no want for an iPhone so let it be 5k and at the price they will tank them self. There not made in America anyway. When you got your $15 WD 40 you'll have your $6 PB blaster so ill survive.
Do some research on the tariff. It has nothing to do with China as it is a tariff on ALL imported steel, not just steel imported from China. Which would not matter since we import very little steel from China - they are not even in the top 10.
Why did you bring up Keynes? As an FYI he was in adamant opposition of the idiotic tariff scheme known as Smoot Hawley

Replied above, Keynsian points etc. I don’t fail to see that China is commuting economic war crimes against a capitalist country. It’s also much broader than 5% of the steel.
