I love a good conspiracy theory, but Occam's Razor usually holds true.
Things make a lot more sense when you realize that chaos + poor journalism = a recipe for bad information. Bad information turns into conspiracy theories. Conspiracy theories become hunts for confirmation bias.
People died. Same goes for Sandy Hook, 9/11, Boston Bombing. We may never know all the facts, and it's entirely possible that the events were manipulated, but innocent people died nonetheless.
