An alarming number of students are flat out incapable of dealing with any kind of challenge or adversity. They fall apart like a wet tissue and want an immediate out. Many are also coddled by parents who are nothing more than enablers for this type of behavior. Many districts across the country, including mine, have given over the building keys to the kids and parents since administration is populated with cowards--the majority of which are failed teachers with no leadership skills.
Our son was having grades problems in freshman year, and we went to talk to his teachers about it. I was surprised and really disappointed for society when it dawned on me that many of his teachers assumed a defensive position, thinking we were coming in to blame them, when in fact, we were coming in to tell them, crack the ****in' whip and we have their backs. Apparently they just don't hear that anymore. What they hear is, Buffy and Shanecqua can do no wrong, and Billy the bully would never, so what's YOUR problem, and do I have to call the superintendent.
