What is everyone's opinion on what will happen to the value of previous GT500 models when the new one is released? It sounds like it will be an absolute monster right from the factory.

My guess is prices will come down a decent percent (10-20%) due to the market flooding with previous Gen cars. Seeing a large influx of the most recent gen GT500 will also help to drop the price of all other generations as well. Similar to what happens with C5z > c6z > c7z pricing.

The prices on them are already falling. Once they hit the market if they are as badass as they claim they will drop even more.

I dunno, 10-20% is a big move. 07/08/09 still sell for ~$30k and 2014s are ~$50k so that would mean these will be selling for ~$25k and ~$40k.

Terminator prices held in there even though the first GT500 was only 3yrs after. GT500 prices held in there when the GT350 came out.

Its not like the new GT500 has come out of nowhere, it has been in anticipated for >1.5 yrs. I would think that most that want one have already raised the money.

The early GT500 was also not exactly a step up from the Terminator. It does not surprise me that it is holding a significant premium.

As you mentioned, it will be all about what the new car offers. There is a laundry list of cars out there that the previous model is more valued and sought after then it’s replacement

Shit you can get some of the 07-09 Shelby’s for high 20’s now. 13-14 mid 40’s. 11-12 mid 30’s. 10 not sure kind of an oddity low 30’s?

The 07 GT500 wasn't much better than the cobra, also it was a completely different body style, so there were probably many people who didn't like it compared to the cobra styling. GT350 isn't a direct competitor to the GT500, GT500 seems to be more of a straight line machine, GT350 was sold as something that can track well.

Anticipation is one thing, seeing what the car will look like and having it become much more concrete is another. You're under the impression that the average shelby owner can afford to have two gt500's at once, probably not true.

Exactly. We will see what it actually brings.

There are 07-09s with sub 50K miles for under $25K around here and 10-11 for under $30K. I think the 07-09s will decrease in value the least. Don't think they will drop much more. The 13-14s will come down the most.

Outside of the forum world people dont care whether its a gt350/500 they want the newest model and prices have always dropped accordingly, i think the 10-20% is accurate

Yes that was my guess, the newest GT500's will depreciate the most when the new gen is released, 07-09 gen will depreciate the least, but it probably will drop a bit due to the "new/better" cars now being cheaper and closer in price.

Yup, I figured the 10-20 was fairly accurate.

Agree with this.

This is probably the most sensible post in this thread.

13/14 cars will suffer an initial hit with the new cars' release, then bounce back some.

I don't see the 07-12s moving much. They've likely found their bottom.

Shit... right now is the time to buy an 07-09.

It all depends on how greedy the dealerships are. My gut says they will price the new GT500s out of reach for many which will keep the 13/14s prices higher.

If the prices start to dip, I may trade up or trade out.

If the prices hold, I'll hold. Simple as that.

What's this new unicorn gonna cost? If '10-12 Shelbys can be bought in the 30's, I don't see much correlation in THAT market as compared to a car costing possibly 3x as much. Two different groups of buyers.
As with every passing year, 99% of older model cars drop in value naturally. Just my opinion.

I seem to remember a bolt on 07 convincingly out running a whippled 03.

As to this question the GT500 is going to be a different animal than the 350R. If you are a GT3 person the 500 will not be for you. And yes both will hold their value.

Can we have a conversation within a conversation...somewhat topic related? What about the people like myself that in the next couple years will have to decide on getting a '13-'14 GT500 or a used '18-'19 which I assume will be around the same price range roughly. The potential of the upgrades to the 5.0 are well documented and the car is more refined than the 13-14's. It's going to be a real hard sell. There's probably a thread on this already that I didn't search sooooooooo sorry in advance

Not sure what you mean by, around the same price range. I assume you mean around the same price range of what the 13-14 goes for today used?

Either way, it will come down to just how amazing the new car ends up being, and how mod friendly it is, assuming you plan to mod.

I suspect the 13-14 will hold a similar place that the Cobra does. The Trinity 5.8/351 engine really sets the car apart. It's also the last SRA Mustang and has a list of modern tech features that make it very much still livable.

Are you talking a 18/19 GT350 or just a plane Jane 5.Bro?

Either way, they are not even close to being the same car. A S550 has more in common with a BMW or a Jaguar then it does a traditional Pony Car. As I mentioned, a GT500 is a big motor, SRA, MANual only beast and will certainly hold it's own in the history books.

I mean hell, this is the 662hp car that Ford released right after Chevy thought they set the world on fire with the 580hp ZL1.

There is a black 2011 500 with 20K miles going for 32K at a dealership near me. Caught my eye while was helping my buddy shop/buy his 2018 PP II.

I see the 13-14s staying high due to it being the last ones “influenced” by Carrol Shelby.
