Piece of cake. Same you do in state.

We'd find a car. I'd get a credit application either online or over the phone. Then either have the contract at the store for pickup, or overnight it if we're shipping the vehicle.

Does a simple POA work if buying a vehicle jointly and your spouse isn’t there?
Depends on the state and lendor. If you're paying cash or bringing your own financing, it'll work in any state.

If I can buy and sell real estate with my GF having a POA you should be able to buy a car. The trick is to have it very specific as to what you are using it for and the signatures notorized. Also before you leave to go get it check with everyone involved to be sure they will accept it because you may run into some asshat that says "that's unacceptable" regardless of what the law is.

I flipped through 13 pages and maybe this has been asked but when would dealers actually give you full pay off amount on your trade in?

When your trade is worth whatever you owe on it, or when they have enough mark up to over-allow to get you there.

I went to my Ford dealer and had to file a warranty claim for my misaligned trunk lid that caused to paint to rub off on the bumper of my 2015 Mustang. The claim was approved by Ford but the dealer's body shop was busy. Now my bumper to bumper warranty expired and the local dealer still is unavailable to do the warranty claim. Other dealers near me also seem not interested in doing the warranty work. What advice do you have?

They're not available to do the work?

I would call the Ford help hotline and explain that you have warranty work that needs to be completed, however your local dealership is giving you the run around, and see if they will mediate between you and the dealer.

My dealer doesn't have a body shop, but I would think one that would that was supposedly too busy for warranty work, should sublet the job to a known good outside body shop. Ford will pay the sublet, they do all the time for us.

Do dealers have access to what other new/used dealers paid for trade in or auction vehicles now for sale on their lot?

No.

Unless you watched a particular car go through the auction, you wouldn't know. Auction houses keep the final sale prices somewhat private.

When looking at used trucks, how do you determine the tow rating?

It depends on a lot of different factors.

Cab size
2wd/4x4
Engine
Rear Axle
GCWR

Here's an example of the 2018 Ford Tow Guide for F-150s: CLICK HERE

If you're looking at Fords, I'd be more than happy to pull a window sticker to get the rear axle and GCWR for you.

Thanks for the info. I will likely be getting a Ford sometime this year. It would be a four door 4wd truck either be 3.5EB or 5.0.

Gotcha. Well if you want me to give it a glance over to make sure you know what you're buying, I'd be more than happy to do so.

Hey Nick,

What is the deal with rent charges and residual value for a lease? Where and when are rent charges paid for? Does residual value include these rent charges or are they paid within the monthly payments?
