Okay...big upgrade!!!
The police should have considered the level of violence from the perp, and responded accordingly.
In this case, it was an excess use of force to apprehend someone who committed a lesser crime. Destroying the house was completely unnecessary and damn straight the Police/Town should've paid for the whatever Insurance didn't cover.
Take a look at the before and after. Seems like the homeowner was paid to rebuild his home by insurance. It appears, and is the city's view, the homeowner decided to not rebuild the same/similar home but a much bigger and more custom home. I agree the homeowner should be made whole, but he shouldn't get a 2x nicer home in both size and finishes.
I think insurance is the biggest scam perpetrated on Americans, and has become a hindrance in Americans ability to build wealth. If state law didn't require car insurance, I would drop it.Do you not have car insurance because your car is paid off?
HOLY SHIT!!!!I'm starting to change my tune to this story too... Homeowner was paid $345k from his insurance company, but I'm still not clear if that was or was not enough money to rebuild his home. I can say, without a doubt, that the homeowner decided to do some upgrades. Now, were those upgrades $200k...I'm not sure, but definitely an upgrade
Old vs new

Old home vs new home.

Thankfully it is a state law. It's there primarily, as seen by minimum requirement by law to have liability insurance, to protect the not at fault parties in accidents.
Don't you just love how the media hides information like thisTake a look at the before and after. Seems like the homeowner was paid to rebuild his home by insurance. did you actually read the story before spouting off with your drivel? The mother****er had a 19 hour shootout with the police. Since he only shoplifted then even though he was shooting the police should have only considered the guy shoplifted and ignore the shooting because his initial crime wasn’t significant enough? The police should have considered the level of violence from the perp, and responded accordingly.

Dumb post on your part and I am disappointed in you.
I was going to say something like calm down, everyone is allowed to have an opinion brother......Dumb post on your part and I am disappointed in you.
I look at what I have shelled out in insurance in the last 20 years compared to what they paid out, and I could easily have self insured many times over.

All good brother. This is just a lively topic of discussion. Neither of us are right all of the time and none of us are wrong all the time. Its a conundrum to figure which side we fall on.Actually my other post is probably more reflective of what I think. My original post, not so much.
The home owner tried to leverage the situation to his benefit, then cried when it failed. I don't agree with his/her moves. So I agree with you pretty much. I can edit my old post for posterity if you'd like.
