No, but am hopeful that Ford will stuff a diesel in the Bronco.....Anybody driven one?
Hopefully not the 3.0L "Powerstroke"... A fresh 4cyl turbo Diesel design please! Or contract Cummins for a private label engine. No, but am hopeful that Ford will stuff a diesel in the Bronco.....
Is that motor a dud? You'd think Ford could build a bullet-proof small diesel engine. Yep, something like a 2.4 liter turbo diesel to jam in anything and everything Ranger size and smaller.Hopefully not the 3.0L "Powerstroke"... A fresh 4cyl turbo Diesel design please! It's a shared engine from land rover over in Europe. Cams driven by timing belt, not as much power or fuel economy as Chrysler's EcoDiesel. Definitely feels like Ford only offering it to attempt to attract Ram customers. Ford is so heavily invested in EcoBoost gas, but I think there is a market for a 4cylinder Diesel. Is that motor a dud? Meh, timing belt I can handle....Ford has a newer 2.0L diesel in the Ranger overseas.

The Cummins R2.8 is made in China.
The 3.0 Powerstroke is fine for the most part. My biggest gripe is it having a timing belt. At least it doesn't have a belt driven oil pump which requires the trans to be pulled every 100,000 mile for service like the 3.0L Duramax.
The 3.2L I-5 Powerstroke was a good engine, but the emissions system on them was notoriously buggy in US-trim.
We need cheap, clean, reliable diesels. Yeah, I know pick two of the three.....In the current emissions environment, diesel makes no sense in comparison to EcoBoost.
They could do that with E85 ecoboosts, but they are so fixated on MPG. Big torque from a small engine and the clean, cool burn of ethanol probably eliminate NOx and SOx emissions. Plus a win for US farmers too.We need cheap, clean, reliable diesels. Yeah, I know pick two of the three.....

Unfortunately, we'll be saying the same thing gas vs. battery soon.
