Call their customer service and tell them you're canceling it because it's too expensive and they'll drop the price significantly. I do it every year with Norton 360.
Exactly this. What's the point of running antivirus to keep your computer running well if the antivirus itself causes the operating system itself destruct.I own a managed services firm with almost 1,000 workstations under our management and we only run Windows 10 Defender..... third party antivirus 'solutions' often cause more problems than they solve.
That's too much to ask of people. My business partner and COO called me asking for our firewall password. He needed it to, I shit you not, give it to the VoIP tech support from India to solve our phone problems.I have never subscribed or paid for any anti-virus software and I've never had a virus.
Don't click stupid links.
Don't visit shady sites
Stop looking at porn.
It's kinda like you don't get in your car and drive down the most dangerous streets or neighborhoods.
Same with your computer.

I did that with the NFL Sunday Ticket. They took my offer of three payments of $29 about 8 years ago. I think it was usually $300 for the package.
This might help:Well, so much for my short-lived life with Microsoft Windows Defender. Worked fine for a couple of days, including updates, but now it won't load. So I have zero protection. Tried numerous recommendations but the app still won't load; keeps tell me to try again later. I guess my hate for Microsoft products continues. LOL. For now, I installed the free version of Avast.
Anyone ever have this issue with Windows Defender?
I would take Putin over Biden any day!“Putin liked this”

Automatically diagnose and fix problems with Windows Firewall (microsoft.com)
My experience with Defender is that it can be a little tricky at the start, and of course every attacker and competitor is aching to switch it off. Download the troubleshooter and give it try.
I am sure that you can do some research and find the other highly rated providers that you might want to try.
My own personal opinion is, save the money. I myself have not ran an additional firewall/anti-virus other than what comes with Windows 10 for free, for years and I have never ran into an issue. Be careful what websites you visit, don't click on suspicious links/emails, don't install suspicious software, etc.
Microsoft seems to be heading back to the good old days when "every update is a fresh shipment of bugs". I had to uninstall the Windows Linux runtime to get an update to install in March, and in April I had to uninstall the VR subsystem.Actually, the Windows Firewall was working fine. Only the Antivirus service was not working. The issue was a recent Windows update done yesterday morning. I uninstalled the update and Defender is working again. For some reason the Service for the Microsoft Defender Antivirus Service was set to Manual and should be Automatic. When set to Manual, you couldn't change it to Automatic, making it act like Malware was preventing the service from starting. By uninstalling the update from yesterday morning, the Service is reset to Automatic. First time I've had this happen. So I am back to using Defender and uninstalled Avast Free.
Exactly! There are only two ways to break into a computer or a system. The hard way is to overcome the defenses with complex and powerful attack strategies. The easy way is to pretend to be someone who has access.Like @helloWorld said, avoid the questionable sites, and be smart about opening up mail and attachments you don't recognize. Common sense goes a long way.
