Love the design of the new Countach! I see a lot of Diablo inspiration in the front end and headlights as well.

I remember being a kid and thinking it was “ Kown Tash “

lol

I forgot the video game I’d play in the early 90s with that car

If you tried to sit in that car today compared to a current supercar, you would be severely disappointed. Then when you tried to work on the damn thing, it would just re-enforce how horrible that car really was.

Integrating the originals styling into the new car makes it look like a cheap kit car imo.

So...opening the door and hanging out of it in reverse isn't the way everyone else does it, Countach or not? (Aside from new Chrysler owners with their stupid ass door interlock due to their shifter lawsuit...) Maybe it's just one of those old trucker habits I've got ingrained in me.

I have to admit, it has a beautiful sound to it, just the right balance of growl and whine.

And I bet that Miata driver they passed going the opposite direction was thinking "Pff look at that guy in his Lamborghini...I bet that guy wishes he had a Miata."

If you tried to sit in that car today compared to a current supercar, you would be severely disappointed. Then when you tried to work on the damn thing, it would just re-enforce how horrible that car really was.

The Countach is one of those cars that while so very iconic- when it comes down to it, its not very well reviewed/regarded, even with its contemporaries. The Diablo is another story.

Sometimes the nostalgic and emotional connection people have for a car can override the actual experience of driving it.
I know the old adage about never meeting your heros because you will most likely be disappointed, but I don’t think it’s applicable to this car.

I remember the first time I sat in a DB9 and a DBS. I thought my ass had died and gone to heaven. A truly remarkable car.

Definitely some truth in that. I'd love to see the reaction of some people plunked down in a Countach, Supra MKIV, or even DeLorean.

I've even been bitten by that a little bit. My experience in an older 911 was underwhelming at best (though some of the more recent iterations look like a stark departure from that.) And even a recent purchase of mine that's one of those legendary "poster on the wall" types, by all rights extremely well regarded by its owners, and even has a reputation matching my white knuckle tastes has failed to resonate with me. Although that's a bit more of a mystery as riding in a nearly identical one with 50 less hp was exhilarating. Maybe I just need to take the top off and push it harder. Or boost it.

I do have to say the Diablo was just as ****in' cool as it appeared though.

I was speaking of what the Countach meant to me as a boy. That car was the one and only for a young kid who was bitten by the car bug. If I could, I would purchase one today and would care less about if it rattled or squeaked, or whatever. The trip back to being that little boy and having the real thing is why the terms: passion and car enthusiasts, are synonymous. Pretty much the same reasoning as to why I own two fox bodys. That was the car for me when I was younger and, while underwhelming by today’s standards, my favorite wheel to sit behind is one of those.

It all depends on the experience you seek. I have read several sources over the years that the Diablo was absolutely legit.

You think when I was a blue balled 17 year old I was actually thinking about how hard the engine would be to work on?

I think you're the only one who's actually getting what the attraction is to this car.
