So I've notice that women are all about the "beach vacation" - whatever the location, they just dream and wax poetically about going to the beach and relaxing by doing nothing.
Personally, I absolutely detest these types of vacations. The fly down to Cancun, Dominican, Florida, etc - pay big bucks to stay at a "Resort" and just basically lay around and eat for a week. (Cruises fall into this as well)
Vacations for me have always focus on an event or action like Mustang Week, Ultrafest, Burning Man, TX2K. If not that, then going and exploring an area - went to New Orleans years ago on a 4 day whim, stayed at a vintage hotel and checked out all the various historical sights, museums, paddle boat ride and what not.
Another note, what do you feel is better a 1 week or 2 week deal? In the case of my wife, she wants 2 weeks - because that's the only way you can really relax - for me, 2 weeks is a nightmare - I'm just going to be working remote (inefficiently) or coming back to an unreal backlog of issues.
