...but I know I won’t be happy with anything under 700whp...
I actually lol'd at this thinking about how far we've come in just the last decade or so. As my good friend would say, "First world problems." Although that notion is fading pretty quickly these days. Maybe we'll evolve into "I know I won't be happy with anything under 325 gigawatts." lol

I know exactly what you mean. Often wonder if using chambered mufflers and a resonator or two would calm it down enough. Probably jives with an S550, but with one of these kit cars, you're pretty limited on length and space so adding enough dampening to get the sound right might not be feasible.
My buddy's Backdraft has a 5.2 Aluminator in it. Sounds great, excellent power and decent fuel economy too.

LMAO!!! After reading this I thought about it from a historical angle.

Guy with 1 horse attached to his buggy tells his buddy with 2 horses attached to his buggy "I wish I had 10 horse power."

His buddy responds "Silly Jebediah, no one will ever need more than 5 horse power"

ROFLMAO!!!

Although I'm in the majority here with wanting a Superformance or Backdraft Cobra, I'm in the minority with "not" wanting a Coyote engine in it. I like the idea of the reliability and performance of a Coyote, but hate the sound they make.

My Cobra would have to have the old school muscle car sound of a pushrod 427.

That being said I'm not sure it would be a cost effective option for me in my retirement years with someone saying they cost upwards of $100K.

What I have really been interested in is buying another 65 coupe and converting it to a fastback. I think that would be a fun project. And after building my 65 I think that conversion project would be something I could handle and do for well under a $100K.

Youre not wrong. An improperly muffled coyote sounds like absolute dog shit.

The problem is, their performance and output per liter simply cannot be matched by any other Ford V8.

You can make them sound good. I'd argue mine sounds great.

But they'll never sound as good as an old school pushrod v8 or even a 4.6/5.4/5.8 modular.

I agree 100% with you gimme11's (y). What you said is exactly how I see it. Coyote power and reliability is great. But that pushrod motor sound is what does it for me.

Nothing wrong with a Coyote, I think it's cool when I see them in a classic Mustang or even a Fox Body.

This is why you are seeing new builds have a Godzilla motor.

I have a thing for movie cars.

92 Wrangler Sahara from Jurassic Park.
67 GT500 from Gone in 60 Seconds.
77 Camaro from Transformers.

It's a long list but just a few that would be fun to build.

Curious if you have any more detail. I know the low budget factory fives are apparent but have seen ones taken to the extreme that look pretty good. These have high end suspension setups, interiors, etc. what is it about the factory five - the body, trim, chassis?
I have not worked on a Cobra of any kind since 2010 or so. For all I know the Factory 5 guys have stepped their game up. I have not even seen a Cobra in 5 years. Moving to Maine will do that. It is a wasteland for those types of cars. In Bangor Maine, the closest "big" (25K people) city to me, there are no BMW, Porsche, Ferrari, Lotus, Jag or any Dealerships of that type. There is a small M/B Dealership and the local Ford Dealer is also an Audi Dealer. Otherwise it is Domestic and Asian Dealerships that dominate the area.
The Dealership I worked at in the Seattle area that had the Superformance franchise, was also a Aston Martin and Lotus new car Dealership. They also had a lot of used sports cars, muscle cars and street rods that they had either on consignment or bought and sold through the likes of Barrett Jackson and Mecum. It was quite the place. It was like walking into a high end car show every day and the inventory changed all the time.

A small part of the showroom of the Dealership I worked at that had the Superformance franchise.

Neat part was I got to drive and work on a lot of those.
Oh, those were the days...

BTW, the only car that I would currently like to have is a 2019 Bullitt edition Mustang. And then I would do the unthinkable and take the manual trans out and put a 10 speed auto in it.
I have owned a 2001 and a 2008 Bullitt Mustang and would like to have that 2019.
I am weird that way. Obviously it would have to be in Hyland Green.

Ah yes, Park Place Motors. Sold my Cobra there on consignment. It went down to California and now is in 2 pieces (or so I'm told).

I like old trucks and newer cars. I might sell my 13 Boss 302 at some point and buy a 67-72 short bed Chevy pickup or maybe a K5 Blazer. I had a 70 K5 and sold it which is the one vehicle I regret selling to this day. The prices have skyrocketed unfortunately so may never happen.

Buddy. Of mine built a 69 Z/28 clone with his father, in Hugger Orange, I think that should be his joy.

Nope. He got ahold of a 60s Chevy truck frame/body swapped onto a 6.2 Trailblazer SS chasis/suspension/drivetrain etc… its pretty damn cool.

Now he’s finishing up some sort of old blazer on a 5.3 encore. I’ll see if I can get some pics of the blazer.
