Seeing F-150 XLT hybrids advertised $9,000 off MSRP with $6,000 to $8,000 common localishly. Also seeing dealers $2,000 over MSRP. Pretty crazy spread in pricing. In fact, I can't remember seeing such a spread in new pickup pricing, dealers are usually super aggressive about price discovery with the competition.

This mornings commercial was 9,000 off remaining ‘22s. I can’t imagine there is a lot left to choose from. But, someone might find what they want and get a deal on it.

Are you comparing new 2022s to new 2023s?

The one $2,000 over was a 2023 and the $9,000 under was a 2022, but also seeing 2023's $6,000 off, so very strange market pricing. Really seeing some dealers going back to precovid pricing versus during covid pricing. Younger people really do not like to haggle like older buyers, so hard to say which way is right if the dealers are hitting the numbers they want.

So many contrary signs right now. Dealer new vehicle sales increased in Dec and Feb, although not back to precovid yet, but dealer lot inventory has been rising. It looks like supply issues are fading for the OEM's, yet the manic push to ramp EV production rolls on. It is hard to see how that push doesn't effect their ICE production.

Anyways, let's hope for a soft landing and increased lot inventory for you!

Interesting to see HD trucks that aren't work trucks show up on the big 3 lots around here and not sell instantly. Been a very long time since that happened.

Weird. I wish they'd send some down here.

I received another apology email from Ford about the delay on building the wife's car last week. I'm not too upset, but it's giving her time to look at other (more expensive) vehicles.

This just became a thing in the last 2 weeks. Tenvoorde is bulging with inventory, but then the Ram and Chevy dealerships have been for a while. Even the GMC dealer has unsold heavy duty and they don't stock work trucks.

GM Pauses Truck Production to ‘Optimize’ Inventory Levels

Story by Matthew Guy • Yesterday 5:30 PM

With a headline like that, one might think today’s date was closer to 2003, not 2023. Nevertheless, it seems The General has decided to idle its Indiana truck plant for a couple of weeks this spring in order to “help the company maintain optimal inventory levels.”

The dealer lots are full, the chip shortage for Chevy trucks is over, back to normalized stop and start to avoid the bad old days when they just stacked them up. The good news is the deals are out there.

How many Tesla burn down and regulatory crickets.
Interesting breakdown from Car and Driver;

"AutoInsuranceEZ studied the frequency of fires—from all causes, including collisions—in automobiles in 2021. It found that hybrid vehicles, which have an internal combustion engine and an electric motor, had the most fires per 100,000 vehicles (3475), while vehicles with just an internal combustion engine placed second (1530 per 100,000). Fully electric vehicles had the fewest: 25 per 100,000. These findings were based on data from the National Transportation Safety Board and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics."

The problem being that EV fires are always catastrophic losses. Oh, and the data used for the numbers you quoted have been called out as irresponsible, as in there simply isn't enough data on hybrids and EV's to draw conclusions from.

Ford lots seem to be the last to fill up. Anecdotal, but GM and Mopar lots around here are bulging with inventory.

$9k off MSRP for Jeep Gladiator diesel is pretty easy to find.

I looked at a ZR2 Colorado for $6k off MSRP just the other day.
