Who should win??? 03 cobra vs. 99 GT

It will happen tonight at our local track. A guy with a 99 gt with i'm guessing regular bolt ons and a 100 shot called me out saying he paid 4g's for a car that's faster than mine. I said bring it to the track and that's where were at. I have flowmaster catback only and he has exhaust, pipe, cold air, gears, Nittos. I'm guessing i'll run 8.20 if i can shift right and he is saying he'll run 8.00's. This sound right?

BTW!!!!! It's an 1/8th mile track.

You're 03 Cobra should take him fairly easy. GT with spray should be in the low 13's. Exhaust and his other mods don't add much at all.

What does a stock 03 cobra run in a quarter? Low 13's right?

i did i full bolt on GT and ran 14s 2V are not enough ( i was missing a tune a weight reduction, plus slicks, i've seen 2V in high 12s with only bolt ons but there are just a few)

Stock Cobras run high 12s driven right, with the CB you should be in the 400 rwhp range and bolt on GT with a 100 shot should be in the 300-350 rwhp range and run maybe low 13s. The only advantage he has is the Nittos and only if he knows how to use them, other that you should kick his ass.

wow you guys must not know much about 2v's mine only has exhaust 4.10's and a tune on nittos and i went 13.20 and when i was sprayin i stayed right next to a modded 03 cobra

yeah when I had my 2v 01 gt all I had was gears,chip,exhaust,cold air intake and it was an automatic and the car ran 13.3 at 103

My Gt went 12.2 at111mph with bolt ons and a 125 shot at Bristol. I ran a 12.8 on a 100 shot on street tires. Bolt on sprayed Gts are nothing to laugh at.

I dont know why you guys underestimated the GT so much. My friend had a stock 03 GT run 13.9's all day long. Its normal for bolt on and geared GT's with traction to run low 13s(or better), plus the 100 shot, forget it.

^Yeah rear tires that are only 245's are generally pretty damn hard to hook. Man you need some tires.

That was funny. Just to put in perspective, there was an 03 cobra running at the NMRA event in Columbus today that only went 97 -99 mph in the quarter. Car had atleast exhaust and drag radials, but a terrible driver. This guy(OP) would have run better, but only 85 in the 8th? Time for a little practice. Did everyone forget that the GT's are lighter and are easier to bring out with an inexperienced driver? Goes to show, once again, that races aren't run on paper.

my brother has a bone stock motor 99 Auto GT with only mods being drag radials, 100 shot, tune and a midpipe and Ran a 12.4 w/ 1.7 60 FT. He even has stock Catback and stock CAI still. So sprayed 2v's run pretty well!

I ran mid 13s with a CAI,hpipe and flows GT..

one time i ran a 13.6 with a 2.2 60' when i had gears and shitty tires.

gt is in no way in the same class as a termy but there not as shitty as some think

A buddy of mines 99 gt with just bolt ons and et streets used to run 12.80's on motor. It would not be hard to put one in the 11's with just a 100 shot on top of that. You just have to know what you're doing.
