with the silencer holes covered how much louder does the blower whine? and if the Magnum Powers SC reuses the eatons rotors, how hard is it to pull them out and put them in the other unit?

From what I was reading in the how to section there are 3-4 different gaskets that are disposed of when taking the supercharger off if I'm not mistaken so they'll need replaced.

There is a gasket from the S/C to the Plenum, and another from the S/C to the mid plate. Both are metal and neither really see much heat. There may be a gasket where the snout to the S/C connects, but I used the liquid gasket stuff per BDA1855's suggestion when taking that off, its been fine so far. I don't see why you couldn't re-use both gaskets.

I've been wanting to send my blower to Steig, I just can't afford it right now :(

Rather do my own, but I always end up screwing something up. I have the worst of luck working on or around the engine. I am not the mechanically inclined kind of person...im challenged.

you can do it without replacing any gaskets as long as you dont mess em up when you take it off.

to the OP...... how much oil? when the supercharger is sitting level the oil should come up to the fill hole.......kinda like a rear diff.

Thank you! Which type of oil is used in it?

Or pony up and go buy the right stuff from ford or GM. BDA1855 knows the part number for the GM stuff I believe, if you ask him. Its like 12$, and its good for awhile. Plus it wont be stinky when you change it next.

I'd get the supercharger oil from either Ford or GM. I don't know what the differences are between the supercharger oil and a motor oil, but if you look at the supercharger oil and lets say a 10w-30 motor oil, the supercharger oil appears much more viscous. For an Eaton you'll need about 1 1/2 bottles to fill it up. Last year I paid about $16 from a GM dealership for two bottles.

Do you have part numbers? My blower has 110k miles on it now so I doubt motor oil would be a good solution..

huh? maybe 1 is, not 3 or 4

I would rather it be one gasket I was just stating what I read. Check out the supercharger removal link in the How-To section and there are several places where is says dispose of gasket.... dispose of gasket.... etc.

Ok so i ripped this thing off tonight in 45 minutes.. really not that bad at all to work on! I got the front cover of the blower off and drained the oil.. How do the rotor packs come out? Do I have to mark the gears first? Also I believe people say that like 10 cans of carb cleaner clean the intercooler out well.. Any other suggestions?
Here are pics of the progress..

oooooohhhhh myyyyyy god........that intercooler is NASTY.

the rotorpacks will slide out the front....you might need persuade them a little.
no you dont need to mark the gear...once it is apart you will see.

auto zone sells big cans of carb cleaner for 2 bux.....for that intercooler you might need 20 cans:rolling:

good luck... keep us posted:beer:

I am going to change my s/c oil next regular oil change. I figured that might be a good time for me to plug the silencer holes. Do I need to pull the s/c apart to plug them? I already have a Stieg Stage IV.
