PROJECT: Sick SVT

Started pulling some parts Friday night, did a little more Saturday, and in between football games on Sunday..... Probably 6-8 hours total spent to get this far.....

Radiator is ready to be pulled as well as fuel rail, and front idler assembly...
Going to undo headers tonight.

Now the 4-6 week wait begins for the new motor setup to arrive.

Leach and ProMod lightning are coming over to help me drop her in, they figure one day we should be good.

I was surprised with the proper tools how easy it really is to break these motors down. Just very time consuming. After all I'm a computer dork and have never pulled a motor in any vehicle ever in my life..... So wish me luck, lol...

Nice Keith. I would bag and label everything. If one of your many 4 legged friend get into the garage and start running around your going to have a mess.

Wife actually showed up last night and surprised me with a box of ziploc baggies, a new clicky top Sharpie. A deep socket 8mm (needed to get long bolts off of valve covers).

Plus been taking at on of pics with the nikon D80, so I can zoom in on any pic and actually see every bolts, wire, etc... I figure thats the best documentation I can do..

that would suck if one of my animals got in the garage......

Actually I'm surprised, I only have a 2 car garage. But got everything out minus radiator.
Have to un do headers tonight, and motors ready to be pulled. :)

What are all the short strips of red wire butt connected together for?

NX Wet Kit wires.. fuel Solenoid, Nitrous solenoid, purge......
I had wire loom covering everything before. Rather than cut and pull all the wires only to resplice them later, I decided to try and pull them up high so I can pull the motor out below them.

Here's how it used to look before I tore into her.
You can see the wire loom covering where those red wires are...

Ahh.. Good luck with the swap! Engine swaps really aren't that bad... I'm a computer guy as well but have changed many motors.. As said above.. the more you document now the easier it will be later.. You may remember where something goes tomorrow but in 3 weeks.. maybe not so much!

LOL I was thinking the same thing at first INFAMOUS, Oh this is easy I'll remember where this bracket goes, or this bolt... then after 3 beers, I was holding a bolts, going.... where the hell did I get this from????

Thats when I realised throwing all the nuts, bolts, washers in to one big tupperware bin was not a good idea.... (so joking, lol).

I'm actually going to keep the front end on, from talking with a lot of people lately, they all have done it this way with no issues. JJ gave me a few other real good tips about getting the block out with the truck still together in one piece.

Plus Leach and Promodlightning aka Freakshow will be helping me put the motor back in when its time, and they've done about 6+ motors this way....

Just a lot of blue painters tape, blankets, and going real slow.....

No kidding inuswo. Except at least I can leave my parts spread out across the garage now. no need to try and pack em up for traveling in the bed of the truck, should help a bit as far as keeping everything organized... Ahh who am I kidding, my garage is a mess!

I just put the parts in the bed so I can have extra room to walk around the garage while I do everything. Its not like the truck is going anywhere :)

Way to go shaggy, I would have just taken the s/c and intake off and pulled the motor through the top. With the hood off of course. That's what I thought you were doing when you texted me the other night. I'll come down and help. Let's make it a mod party at your house.

Damn PhLoBuS, you went all out.
I'm not taking any of those body parts off.
Undoing hood supports, laying hood on a blanket across windshield, and using a rope to tie it to the gas tank cap to prevent it from falling back down.

Then just going to drop her in....

Also what year is your truck PhLoBuS? I see you have that damn silver radiator line unplugged in one of your pics.... I could not get that sucker to budge!

Wow man! Glad to see everything is going well so far, but that looks crazy. What shop are you getting the new mill from? What is going to be done to it? What else are you planning to do at the same time?
