IDK about you, but I'm not shoving the muzzle of any gun near my waste area. I may put it in my waist band though.

Not having one in the chamber is as stupid as not covering the trigger when the gun is stowed on your body.
So how would you recommend carrying a revolver? An empty cylinder?
If you're serious about carrying, that gun needs to be ready to go. The only additional steps that are unique to certain guns is disengagement of the safety during the punch out...Or pulling back the hammer on a SAO gun.
There are no steps in any sort of real training that involves racking the slide during a draw.

1. i was refering to a non-revolver type.
2. if you pull out a gun on someone they won't know it doesn't have a round in the chamber. people tend to listen when they are at gunpoint...if someone puts a gun to my face i'm gonna assume it's loaded, might just be me though.
you've been served....next :rolling:

You obviously didn't see what I was talking about. There is a difference between waste and waist. I'm not putting a gun down my asscrack.

I carry IWB SOB. I don't want anything near my dick either. SOB is easy enough to deploy if needed.

how would it go bang w/ no round in the chamber? oh thats right maybe it has a hidden hammer underneath the hammer thats already a hammer....:bored:

No, you are dead, for not having one in the chamber. You might as well not carry a weapon if you're not gonna be hot at all times. I see you're failing to understand what everyone is talking about in this thread. Your sarcasm then becomes pointless.

well idk, just depends on how comfy and competent one is with a weapon. i guarantee if someone pulled on out and put it in your face you'd comply. just saying.....

Agreed. I always have positive control of my weapon at all times so I'm not worried about having a round in the chamber and the weapon concealed in the small of my back.

i agree also, i was being technical on how people could carry it if they are afriad to blow their cocks off.
mines always got one in the chamber but then again i'm sure all 3 of us are comfy enough to carry it like that for this arguments sake. correct?

I've been wanting to go to my CCW for a while now but there's a couple things I wanna figure out first.

1. I don't wear hunting vests or jackets everywhere I go. Unless it's really cold I don't wear any sort of overgarment. When you guys carry, esp in the summer time, how do you conceal a gun without it poking out of a t shirt or looking funny?

2. I'm not sure what pistol I would like to carry. I understand that size is really important to a lot of people, but I'm 6'2 and don't mind carrying a mid-sized pistol as long as it's lightweight/polymer.

3. Caliber. A lot of people say a 9mm doesn't have enough stopping power for self defense but I kinda question that. Chances are if you have to use it, it's going to be fairly close range and I just can't see how a 9mm can't at least immobilize someone. That said, I also want to pick up a .40. My 1911 is great but a .45 IMO is just impractical to carry. Suggestions?

It is rather hard for me to conceal at times, particularly in the summer here in Phoenix. I use an inside the waist band holster to conceal my Glock 17. Every now and then I might print as I'm very physically athletic and there isnt anything to hide a protruding pistol. But its almoust never a problem as I've become good at the way I stand, bend over, walk, run etc to make sure that the pistol stays concealed and doesnt print.

As for the caliber question its very subjective. I personally like to carry 9mm. I can carry more rounds in my mag than someone carrying a .45. I also use hydroshocks which can really put someone down after taking a hit. And lastly, nothing stops an enemy like a bullit in the head, be it 9mm, .40, .45, even .22!

I read it and that's what made me ask my question. I would never ever recommend to someone to carry a weapon to defend themselves without a round chambered. Instead I would recommend ways to carry concealed with the proper equipment/holster to protect themselves from an accidental discharge.
