Non synthetic spec Dexron 3 sucks for the TR6060. Good choice OP

The smoothness of the shifts is literally like night and day. It wasn’t bad before but a bit notchy feeling at times. It’s literally a finger effort to shift now. Love the Mobil 1 mod

I put Mobil 1 in my T56 Magnum XL last Summer, and it helped a little bit. But I still get a small amount of the "notchies" when tranny is cold. Once warmed up a little bit, it's spot-on.

I swear these TR6060s are each unique. No two were produced exactly the same. My current rebuild (rebuilt in 2015 by Ford) took 3 different fluid swaps to find that it loved Redline D4 ATF. Some 6060's love Mobil 1 and some love Amsoil.

I genuinely believe that the way each synchro and rings were produced and installed gives them this characteristic. Just means that, like the love of a good woman, you just gotta find out who she is and what she likes.

What were your specific tranny symptoms that made you try all the different fluids? I am assuming it was notchiness. Was it all the time, or only at certain times?

I've had Mobil 1 for 10,000 miles and 4 years and still good. It just made the engagement of the stock shifter much smoother. Now, it is still a little notchy in the winter which is to be expected until it warms up.

Dumb question, but is a transmission fluid swap a simple drain and fill?

14k on the Blue Tank, stock fluid and shifter, wouldn’t turn down a better throw.

What about the track pack cars? Do you need to clush the cooler like the PDF says?

I would, I personally dont see any sense in mixing two different brands ATF. Eng oil that meets the same specs, well, probably not as big a deal. Others with more knowledge on fluid composition may say different. I dont have a track pack, but even then I drained, filled with Mobile 1, ran it, and drain and filled it again with Mobile 1. Then I went to see my therapist to discuss OCD issues....but thats another story...
