On the other note, do you believe there’s a chance Ford knew they would follow with this MK2 edition and that factored into their decision not to allocate a street GT to you?

Though that would be an interesting plot twist, I don't believe so. At the time of the original allocation decisions, Ford had not green-lighted the track version other than for actual GTLM. I think at the time I simply wasn't important enough to Ford compared with the (many many many) thousands of other folks who had more a of a history with the brand. It was a reasonable decision by Ford, even if it was a sad day for me.

Fast forward a few years, I had bought and raced first a Boss 302S and then the Mustang GT4, and when they asked me if I was interested in a track-only GT, my instant response was "oh HELL yes". Since the market for expensive track-only cars is typically much smaller than for limited-production street cars, it was helpful for them to have a handful of enthusiasts commit to buying the track car sight unseen. They green-lighted the mk2 about a year after I committed to get one should they make it.

Finally, I did apply for the street GT during Ford's second round of applications, and the second time around I was approved. Again, a reasonable choice by Ford - I'm out there racing their cars (and putting down some darned respectable numbers for a non-pro driver, too) - and I'll be doing the same with their halo track car. So I'm happy with how things turned out.

I'm not sure yet. I saw a carbon edition in liquid red and that was pretty spectacular. I've got a bit of time to decide.

Ah Treynor that is awesome! I really enjoyed your thread on the GT4, and this is even more exciting! I would love to see pictures of the garage once the new toys arrive and are in their place(well maybe they’re second place, since you do track your cars)
