How many miles before Oil Changes?

This def sounds like an issue of wrong oil used by the dealer. Too much of a coincidence that it happened right after. I had a similar thing happen to me with a NorthStar Engine. Spun a bearing right after oil change.

7500 miles is recommended from GM...I’d honestly do 5K. Hell Ford recommendation is 10K on coyotes which is nonsense IMHO.. those phasers and actuators are sensitive to oil quality. I wouldn’t be surprised if the lube monkey was just throwing conventional in there too, they don’t give a ****. Conventional on extended intervals would be bad news for sure. Some dealers are clueless.

My wife has a 14 Escalade with 57k and first thing I did was install a tune. Gained response and horsepower and deactivated the AFM crap. Get a tune from Diablew DiabLew Tune - Custom Tuning for GM Vehicles - DiabloSport inTune 2030, Diablo inTune 8245 Platinum, DiabloSport Trinity, inTune, DiabloSport Trinity 9245 Platinum, Custom Tuning by 06MonteSS, custom GM tuning. Need to deactivate that crap as soon as you get the truck back.

Gotta becareful for warranty work with a tune
.not all dealers are tune friendly.

Do some research, many guys have had no issues with it. You can tune it right back to stock before you go in for service and there are no traces. Funny part is most of the warranty issues are related to the AFM system. Do as you wish but if it is a 17 the warranty is almost up unless he bought extended.

they can see flashes and key cycles between reflashes.... I get what you are saying and don’t necessarily disagree, but it’s naive to assume the dealer is none the wiser. FWIW I hate AFM/DOD nonsense, lifters are crap in those engines. All that said if I was near the end of warranty, then game on.

Yeah, you can't hide refreshes from them. Basic scanners won't be able to see it, but if we were to use our GM programming software with the Pass Thru Pro we could look at the history, and that is what they primarily use at the dealerships I believe.
