Watch this with English CC. Nothing like seeing NASCAR in Japan with famous Japanese road race champions driving(and appreciating how difficult it truly is, even with their pro team crews)

Days of Thunder is one of those movies where you (A) have to have a home theater surround-sound setup (with sub-woofer), and (B) you have to crank up the volume. Yeah, great flick!

Big fan of Nascar from late 90's to mid 00's. I couldnt give a shit about it anymore, and likely wouldnt recognize 3/4 the field at this point. Once my boy Smoke retired, really didnt have a reason to follow the sport anymore. Seems theyre going woke now, like most they will get broke.

Nascar keeps trying to reinvent itself into something palatable to all, if they would go back to the format they had when the factories were involved they may be bale to rekindle some interest. These are just a bunch of the same cars with different stickers on them.

Nascars idea of a “stock” Mustang....

For everyone looking for some great stock car racing, check out Pirelli World Challenge and IMSA Continental Tire Sportscar Challenge. If either of those series are running near you try to make it out and watch the race. I just wish they would add a few short track ovals to the series.

+1

Saw the race at Mosport and it was a lot of fun. I also got to speak to Dean and the rest of the team at Kohr.

The way I feel.

It is their property, if they don't want something on it, they have the right to say they don't want it on their property. I think they are being appeasers, but so be it.

The flag they are banning is the Virginia battle flag (I think). The actual confederate flag (as I understand it) is the below flag:

1920px-Flag_of_the_Confederate_States_of_America_(1861–1863).svg.png

The "real" stars and bars. (I have seen celebrities "Spike Lee" refer to the Virginia battle flag as the stars and bars, which is wrong)

The confederate had several different flags, they banning all of them?, because maybe it's just me but the above flag looks an awful lot like the American flag. My point being is you could reconstitute the Virginia battle flag slightly, or a lot, and if you think or believe you have a Virginia battle flag, that's what it is. They going to count the number of stars on your flag to make sure you have all 50? LOL. "Hey buddy, I only count 49 stars, GTFO!"

To me, I see the Virginia battle flag as a nostalgic symbol. I don't think the south is getting ready to "rise up" again LOL.

I bet if you flew the above flag NASCAR wouldn't even know it's the real flag.

For me?, I saw a report that they (NASCAR) were going to have a car painted with BLM in a race, which is their decision. I don't believe in BLM for many reasons, so I tuned the race out. Pretty much the same as tuning out the NFL over the whole kneeling thing. I'm glad I don't watch anymore, and I am not bitter at all. I found other things to do.

I wonder how NASCAR would feel if you flew the American flag upside down...

Thats the 1st National or the stars and bars for obvious reasons. I still like the 2nd National as almost everyone that sees it ask why are the Confederates surrendering.

eventually corporations will start to cater to the "ban the American flag" idiots that say its offensive to oppressed people. no more star spangled clothing and decorations for sale at Old Navy, Walmart, Target etc come summer time or memorial day.

I agree it is up to the shot callers as asinine as it may seem. Are the tracks property of Nascar though or would these places be considered "leased" for each race or what?

Yes, the ANV Flag is the flag you are referring to is the flag that everyone gets worked up about. It was later incorporated into the upper left hand corner of the 2nd and 3rd National Flag of the CSA. The First flag is the "stars and bars" as you have shown.

I have the RE Lee Headquarters flag in various forms of public display. In the 15+ years I have had these shown, 8 people have correctly identified the flag.

It depends on the facility. There are 2 large track ownership groups, International Speedway Corporation and Speedway Motorsports Inc. ISC was a subsidiary of NASCAR, but last year was formally absorbed into NASCAR through a stock buyout. SMI is owned by Bruton Smith who owns the Sonic chain of car dealerships. There are some independent facilities used, Indy Motor Speedway owned by Penske Entertainment Inc, Dover Speedway, Gateway Motorsports, Pocono Speedway, Mid-Ohio, and Road America.
