Great truck, great motor! Id love to have a 3.0l diesel Suburban ...

That bitch has a belt driven oil pump that requires removal of the transmission to service. **** that. I can't believe the shit these manufacturers are putting in these small diesels. At least the VM 3.0 in the Ram has a chain drive. Did timing gears suddenly become an issue?

i love the AT4 in 1500 or 2500 tbh, i even saw a local RST that was lifted, without all the chrome, looked awesome.

one thing i thought was odd was when building a tahoe z71, the 5.3 is the only V8 you can get.

I'll stick with my L5P. Although the 3.0l M57 in my 335d is a nasty little diesel, deleted/tuned makes about 350/550 and I routinely get 36+ mpg on my 100 mile work commute. I had another small diesel a couple of years ago, 2008 Grand Cherokee CRD with the Mercedes OM642 3.0l, it was a dog even with tuning and bolt-ons and never got above maybe 25 mpg.

I considered buying one of those CRD GC about 7 years ago, but couldn't find one worth buying. Seems they were all falling apart.

Mine was in really good shape but that is definitely relative considering it was a mid-2000's Chrysler product haha.

Apparently John Q Public is ridiculously sensitive to the noises a diesel engine makes.

From an article I was reading a while back, it seems that GM is seeing a fairly high take rate of these engines.

If you don't have shut off the engine in the drive thru it's not a diesel.

I still see diesels in the current form(EPA/Cali carb) close to pointless for a 1500.

Sure, they get better mileage on the highway.

For Ford anyways, doesn't the 3.5LTT have a higher tow rating?

The days of a small diesel in a truck making financial sense are long gone.

True. By the time you factor in fuel price differential, initial cost, & maintenance vs mpgs it's not worth it. And it's becoming that way with the SD too with 7.3.
