Hey guys. I sold my 03 back in 2014 and always misses the car. I picked up a low mileage one that is pullied and has a few bolt ons. I need to get tires. I was thinking of the toyo r888r for the rear. I’m running stock wheels. Not sure if the car is lowered or not. Down the road I will be boosting power and probably run a Whipple at some point. Can I run a 315/35/17 on those stock wheels without rubbing? I believe I had nitto 555r with that size on my other cobra. Also what’s a good tire to run on the front if I run that size Toyo on the rear? Thanks!

So that’s a hard No on running a 315/35/17 on stock rim size. As for the fronts on mine I have a 255/35/18 Eagle F1’s on there. I ran a 305/35/18 on a 18x10 rim. On my stock rims I just have 245/35/17 all around so I can rotate them. However the car doesn’t move much, she’s on dolleys. If you’re going to try and keep the stock wheel look LMR had some stock staggered set up for the rear wheels running a 10.5 or a 10 depending on if you’re 17” or 18”.

You've got to post at least one photo of your "new" Cobra. Where in CT are you?
I’m in southbury. I don’t have any great pics right now because I just got the car, and the weather isn’t cooperating. This is it. 24,000 miles

Ah, okay. I have a few friends in Southbury. Yeah, the weather now sucks (although we shouldn't complain, LOL) and more snow is supposed to be coming on Friday. :( I had planned to drive my new G70 to my buddy's detailing garage in Prospect on Friday, but we'll have to put it off until more mild weather returns. Thankfully we're seeing a forecast of mild mid-to-high 40 degrees weather coming by mid-month.

Very nice looking Cobra. Redfire is such a nice color. Nice low miles, too. Did you buy it somewhat local?

Well those aren’t stock wheels, unless you’re referring to swapping the wheels to the stock ones. Those are SVE Series 1. I have the series 3. Those are 18x9.5 up front and 18x10 in the rear.

you're going to need to run a spacer on a 10.5" rim unless you have a low profile irs bolt

Congrats and welcome home!

Front - I'd run a performance summer tire. Nitto G2 for example. 255-275/40 range. R888R like heat and CT roads are probably cold until late June. lol

Rear - 275 would be a good fit. Nittos used to run narrow (maybe they still do) so that's partly why guys were getting away with wider Nitto DRs on the stock width wheels. Toyos seem to run a little wider, however, so in order to prevent sidewall bulge (that's what she said), I wouldn't reach for the stars width-wise.

Thanks for the compliments. I bought it just over the line in NY.

Yeah for stock wheels I’d maybe even go 255 up front and a nice 275 in the rear. Unless you want to have them same size to rotate, etc.

275 square set up was how they came factory. It helps the handling; 285 squared was okay on the factory wheels but at that point tram-lining is very noticeable on the highway. But that is what comes with wider tires, and more aggressive tread patterns.

Just noticed your 'Joined' date. Mar 19, 2003. One of the old timers. Good to see you're active again. (y)

FWIW, my 17x10 rims with 315s do not rub on the IRS bolt. It's close...but it has not rubbed yet. I'm wondering if that is why LMR went to a 17x10 vs the "standard" 10.5 rim on their 03/04 replica rims. I'm lowered on H&R race springs....

LOL. I'm a neat freak with my own garage, but understand that some folks just have to pack a lot of stuff in theirs. A car cover would be a big plus for @NewToFord's Cobra. Just to provide a margin of protection to the paint.
