Don't be scared of brisket.... people make it out to be hard but I think that's just because everyone wants to over complicate it.
Mom had a brisket in the 1/4 cow she bought, I threw it on the smoker last night. Wrapped it at 8am and turned up the heat, this picture is from 6am

Fingers crossed never did one before.

View attachment 1808009Lowes had the 850 $100 off again (so $500) and already assembled to took the plunge… burning it off now

I was considering the onyx Austin from Walmart but they didn’t have any so **** it, this should be plenty
Good deal on that one. I have the 1150 and have been pretty happy with it. Couple things I have noticed on mine.

1. It doesn’t like cheap pellets, does much better with traeger pelllets than the off brands I have used.

2. Watch your temps and hot spots. The temp gauge gets heat leakage due to position and can be way off from actual inside temps. There is a couple of companies that sell a block off plate that mounts below the temp gauge to remedy this. I use foil and it helps a bit.

3. The motor is not mounted and simply wedges itself against part of the metal frame to keep from spinning on the auger. There is also an aftermarket part to remedy that.

4. It actually doesn’t produce that much smoke imo. I bought a smoke tube and run that in conjunction most of the time.

I have had mine for two years and for the price I am happy. The app has improved immensely and I have only had one auger jam(cheap pellets).

I'll have to look into those things. My cousin has the 1150 as well and had my check around inside with a temp gun, definitely some decent temp variations within the chamber. I bought a bag of the pitboss pellets starting off, figured that way if I had any issues they couldn't blame the pellets.

I get the pitboss or traeger off Amazon. $20 to my door and I don't have to deal with or see people.

The ones from Lowes were free shipping.
I'll keep them in mind. I don't think my hoppers will hold 40 pound though. I try to run hickory or mesquite in one smoker and cherry or apple in the other.

Mine doesn't either. I just dump some in when it's low.
