Do you even have the title? I know that if you have it, it’s not hard to get it registered as a rebuilt title. Your answer would lead me to believe that you don’t have the title.
I have a certificate of salvage from what I gather it's the same thing as a salvage title. I also have a bill of sale.

Certificate of salvage is a death sentence for a car. It is branded as non rebuildable, and that VIN will be found in a national database. Your shell is junk as far as the DMV goes.

If you make it a drag car and trailer it from place to place so be it, but understand the car will NEVER be road legal again. Even if returned to 100% stock down to the exhaust and emissions equipment. It's. A. Junk. Shell.

Fact. Right off the government website.

"A vehicle with a salvage repairable title cannot be registered until the vehicle has passed the required salvage inspection. A salvage title is permanent and a salvage vehicle can never be issued a clear title."

Yes it can never be a clear/clean title but a rebuilt title is possible.

Surprised no one here besides being negative has mentioned trying to get a copart wrecked car. Have seen complete cars with meaningless damage go for 5-7k…

Sent from my iPhone using svtperformance.com

Pretty sure lots of us have mentioned that. I mentioned that there was a high mileage (125k) 03 with minor front end damage that sold for under $7000 on Co-part in my area.

i have got a certificate of salvage before. my rolled bronco was on my flat trailer, i went to the DMV and traded in the title i had and paid any existing fees (none) and in return they traded me a certificate of salvage and then i drove to the metal recyclers and traded them my rolled over bronco shell plus the cert. for some cash, it was pretty easy.

There was a 35k mile redfire that had a front right fender wreck that went for 7k and was good even to the airbags

Yep. Sucks but oh well. Just more chaos and adventure to be had.

Is insuring it even possible?
How much a month?

At what point is it even insurable?
For example, you don't want to lose the money you've spent on your car if the trailer is in an accident on the way to FL.

I've thrown good money after bad before, but holy crap is this next level. I hope you get the car you want in the end, but this will be a very entertaining thread for the rest of us.

That’s actually a really good point. I don’t know about Indiana but in Florida you need insurance but you can get anything registered. If it can’t be insured you’re SOL.

So I’ve been doing a lot of reading on this mostly because I was curious myself. From what I gather Some auto insurance companies won't insure a car with a rebuilt title. Others will insure them, but won't offer full coverage. This is because it can be difficult to figure out the real value of a car that's been rebuilt. I know Geico, and State Farm won’t touch it down here. Maybe the General or something like that, however I’m sure you’ll pay a premium because insurance is all about liability. They’ll take a chance on you no different Dodge takes a “chance” on people for hellcat chargers at 27% APR for 108 months.

Nevertheless man, I support the hustle and determination. You’ve got a long hurdle in front of you before you can even imagine a registration, or a title. I am glad you did the footwork to see if it was even Possible. I would have hated to heard you did all this work to have a cobra that will never see a Public street (legally that is). For what it’s worth man I tagged him previously in this thread. @_Lariat is doing this sort of thing himself. However he had a bit more parts, and knowledge than you, no offense. It’s been challenging even for him.
