all I can say is you certainly are dedicated to using this car and only this car. I would certainly look for something more complete to rebuild and definitely one I can drive and enjoy without limitations

Damn, this thread has been going since April 2022 and I haven't seen any rebuilding of Terminated Cobra 1FAFP48Y43F309694 yet. Guess I'll check back in around 5 years from now. May see some progress by then.

@CobraBob you asked about expected completion date. I don't think anyone can see that far into the future LMAO!!!

OP, good luck. I have nothing against you and your dedication. I understand being young and wanting to do something. Been there and invested money into a piece of crap car that I don't even have anymore. We have all invested into something that we no longer have. That incudes significant others.... At least you still have this car....... It won't complain or talk back, but it will steal your money LMAO!!!!

iirc he did say on like the third page that he is absolutely dedicated to the long haul, like 5 years or more, and that he won't give up on it regardless of what happens.

has a pool been started yet?

I'm all for the guy trying to save a car thats special, I'm doing that with my dad's 64 Falcon I found 50 years after he sold it. I just think his way of going about it is all wrong and financially draining. He needs a Terminator donor if he wants to rebuild it as a terminator. Anything else is going to eat him alive.

yeah i agree and i too am all for the idea of saving specialty cars like these

Define pool. Like pooling money for parts?

i'm just joshing you man - what i meant is who is taking bets as to whether in 5 years you will still be working on it and how far you've come along in that that time, etc.

i'm not sure which way i'd bet honestly. it's a daunting task but you do seem very determined. either way i wish you the best and would like to see you complete it

Well I guess I'll make this post now.
So I figured it's time to actually give it update about what's been happening with this thing. As seemingly, no progress has ever been made after a year plus. 2023 has mostly just been a year of opportunistic parts buying.
Current parts list of what I have either on the car or laying around is as follows
---------------------------------------------------------------------
(Drivetrain and engine)
Super charger
Fuel pump
Aem gauge
Lots of gaskets
Fuel rails
Fuel injectors
A spare alternator
03 Cobra T56 without bell housing
Transmission mount.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
(Body parts)
Hood*
Front bumper*
Fenders
Rear bumper*
Rear wing*
Roof molding
Side skirts*
(*some scratches and Knicks to repair)
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Next week I'm getting everything for the interior besides the seats. I am also getting all the wiring tip to tail.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
After I get the new parts the body parts are gonna to be sent out to fixed.
After that it's IRS and suspension and it can go back on the ground able to roll around.

Legitimately, what's your PRIMARY goal to accomplish as the car sits? I'm not talking the generic, "make it run," but the first step to the next step.

I don't disagree with the opportunistic parts purchases, as whenever a deal pops up, and you need that part, get it.

Personally, I would wait to fix the body panels you have, and focus on your chassis/shell. I wouldn't waste my time with trying to find an IRS assembly to shove under it. Find an SRA 8.8 out from under a GT to get it rolling. An 03/04 IRS is going to cost you no less than 2k, then, if you're doing it right, another 1-2k in bushings and a carrier rebuild. For suspension up front, either do what Justin.c_svt did on his wrecked 02 zy GT, or haul your shell to a frame shop to have it straightened. After doing that, a basic K member and suspension will do just fine. I'd bet you can find stock stuff for nearly free to get the car physically able to roll.

Well 1 is get all the wiring and interior in besides the seats. The second thing. It had axels in it. My roommate at the time kept moving it around without my permission so I took the axle out. As it was scratching it up as he didn't care about it.

That is really small, as well. Doesn't seem like there was much room to move it anywhere to begin with. Speaking of, how was he moving it? In that July 24 photo it was up on jack stands.

I wouldn't put wiring/interior in until the body is repaired. If you end up doing welding on the car you probably don't want things that can burn. At one point I think you mentioned removing everything from the firewall forward, don't put anything in the car until the front clip is repaired and body is straight.

The front end reweld would only be if the fame was super out of alignment. That's what my roommate said (that its out of alignment). He wanted the car out of the garage so he gave me false information.

Back to THIS post. So, why pull the axles to prevent him from moving the body around? Why didn't you just leave the axles and put the car on jack stands with the wheels removed? Or just tell him not to move it. Some of what you've done in the past, present, and plan in the future is a bit confusing.

How did your roommate check for frame straightness? Did he have equipment in that tiny garage? Haul it to a local shop?
