I'm cautiously posting this, but so far I see nothing that indicates this is satire or a spoof.

It's on several other websites as well and I do not see any satire disclaimers or April Fool's Day disclaimers.

If anyone finds one please link and screenshot it.

Apparently the US Navy has made the magnetohydrodynamic drive (Caterpillar Drive) from the movie the Hunt for Red October into a reality and has fitted it into a Virginia class submarine.

This is holy grail of submarine warfare. Stealth submarines if you will.

Not sure about this one. April 1 has me concerned it is fake news. Well, sort of fake news. Sure, this technology has been studied for decades. There were/are some major hurdles to conquer before it could become an actual reality that works 100%. I did find another article that discusses a future use of this radical propulsion system. It was dated May 18, 2023. Note that it mentions that PUMP is a 42-month program. So there is no way in less than a year they've conquered all of the hurdles, and now have a "silent" sub in the works, or a working prototype. Too soon. Sure, it is possible and could maybe become a reality sooner (with the help of AI) IMO.

Crazy coincidence, I was talking about this movie today with a new client, retired civilian contractor lead nuclear engineer for Virginia Class nuclear subs. More specifically the propulsion and one of the weapons teams.

Once he gets settled, he's going to have us over for a grill out and some beer. Said he has some stories to tell me.

Garbage. You still need a reactor which produces steam, has reactor coolant pumps which produce a signature unique to US Submarines, (as do other country's nuke boats) If anything, it will trade one type of radiates noise for another.....

Ive always wondered about the process of sound dampening the AUX equipment associated with the steam plant.
