How the **** do I get out of jury duty?
Got summoned back in October. Deferred it until next week and forgot all about it until I received the jury summons in the mail yesterday. Can not defer it again in Florida.
I understand the process and need for jurors but I forgot about it and failed to mark it in my calendar.
I’m on standby status so I have to call the night before for a week to see if I have to actually go into the court. Might not even have to go in but if I do I ****ed myself and a lot of other good people and friends It’s all on me.
I talked to a friend who’s a retired lawyer and he said the best course of action is to just listen to the questions carefully…if I have any biases, hardships, a lack of impartiality, or old fashioned emergencies that prevent me from continuing after that first day…speak up, and state my case.
Others have come up with other stupid ideas like dressing a certain way etc.
I know this is on me and I did this to myself and I understand the need for jurors of your peers etc but I made an honest mistake.
