My bearings went bad and I swapped them from the bottom. I still get a tiny bit of knock for about one second on start up before oil gets to the bearings.
I figure I have 5k-10K before it all comes apart.
I have about 15k in parts and labor in the car atm.
I have serious back issues and I can't...
I have to get my 96 teksid rebuilt.
I'm sort of broke as a joke atm, I'll never be able to get a supercharger or turbo so
a good reliable NA setup is what I am after.
I have a 96 with a spun bearing. Rebuild estimate is about 3K+1K labor
I can get a pulled 2004 motor with 56K miles that's never been modded with a 6 speed for $2500. It has the ecu, but I am not sure about the pats/key parts.
What would I need to get this done?
96 cobra spun bearing. I didn't drive it all week, go for a drive and at 35 hit a massive hole in the road and it instantly started making the knocking noise.
Car has 98K miles on it, stock everything apart from bolt ons.
Mechanic confirms something is wrong, maybe bent a wrist pin or...
First it would be on if I was parked facing downhill.
If I drove and parked, did shopping it would be off on next start.
Now it just stays on all the time. Plenty of oil in the engine, temps are fine.
Ideas?
I am looking at a car that was never registered, was only used on private land as a test mule.
Anyone ever go to the state police and get a title with a legal bill of sale?
They did this to the entire block.
Paint is ruined... Insurance wants to junk out the car instead of paying for paint.
How much to get it painted black or something cheap 2K max budget...
I am putting a procharger on my car, 10lb kit is what I have.
Procharger says 24lb stock injectors are fine
Car has stock bottom end.
Should I do the IMRC deletes?
Is it foolish to do this on stock block
The injectors in my car (96 cobra) are black with orange tips.
Parts lookup is showing me blue injectors?
Sorry I forgot to take pictures.
Car came with a pro-m mass air so I am wondering if it's a combo
I want to test my imrc plates before putting the top back on.
What I have found so far on other sites is:
"
Looks like my replacement parts are good.
With 12V on pin 2, pin 3 grounded, and pin 1 floating, the IMRC plates are closed (motor is not energized). In this state on ohmmeter...
I'm not too keen on the design choice, the voltage IC should have a heat sink on it. Instead it is soldered to the board.
No sticker like on the web site, no serial number. I took my order number and info and wrote it on a small piece of paper and taped it to the back.
Small complain is the...
I seen how dirty the valves are, and while it's apart wondering what is needed
to take the heads off and clean them.
Gaskets for sure, not sure about the head studs, are they reusable?
I am wondering what it would take in parts to just take them off
and clean them good since I am already...
We all know why ford made the oil vapor dump to the plenum.
It was an extremely lazy way to deal with an expensive problem.
So flash forward and this is the end result.
Plenum is clean, as seafoam can reach.
IMRC plates are gummed up as expected, but not so bad as
to be useless as sea foam can...
I have the ford HD aluminum driveshaft, but they don't mention the maximum safe rpm.
Someone also mentioned pin clearance issue and they make a special pin for 4.56 gears for 8.8?
I was primarily concerned about vibration in the driveshaft.
93,000 miles
96 mystic - peeling clear on roof / rear bumper.
Driver side door / scoop is dented
Engine pretty much full bolt ons.
Pulley, bbk throttle body, PRO-M cai / sensor setup
Freshly cleaned and new gaskets plenum, imrc, timing cover and valve covers.
New plugs (plat), wires, oil air...
I had a bad vac leak, so off came the intake and imrc plates.
Bad gasket.
So the imrc are filthy and cleaned, but then notice the timing cover is leaking.
Also, valve cover has a bit of weeping...
So timing cover has to come out, and it's near time to replace timing chains...
So now it is...
