03 cobra with a new engine and about 5k on new mcleod clutch/flywheel/ TOB ran great till the other day. Started getting a grindy noise intermittently but seems to be related to transmission spinning up speed...if that makes sense. First I think TOB so I pull tranny and replace tob non noise...
03 with about 5000 miles on the engine. EGR valve moves when vacuum is applied. There seems to be a lot of heat coming through the floor...I'm thinking cat blockage? How do I test this, The car seems to make power, so I don't think it is fully blocked.
thanks
03 cobra, sct2600 maf, jlt cai, accufab single blade tb, 2.81" sc pulley,60lb injectors, boosta pump. Got a bama x4 tuned for all of this. Start car idles 2000+ rpm. Go to datalog for bama and sctx4 bricks on me. While I am waiting for x4 repairs anything to look at or check that might cause...
I have several threads from my year long adventure with my 03 cobra, I finally got the engine rebuilt and added 9:1 pistons, SCT 2600 maf, jlt cai, accufab single blade tb, 60lb injectors, boosta pump, and 2.81 pulley on sc.
I get the bama x4 tuned for my new go fast equipment. Load the tune...
It is a long story but I received these pistons supposedly from a 03 4.6 supercharged cobra. They are not cobra pistons, they are the same bore, appear to have the same amount of dish (I didn't take a fluid measurement) everything is the same but underneath. They have a small oval ford symbol...
I have 7 manly svt rods, all have been inspected, weight matched and are in excellent condition. Cross hatch it great, bushings tight. $200 + actual shipping costs. You can text 678-227-1504 if you need more pics or close up, etc. Also have std rod bearings NIB for rods.
Just got my 03 back running with a complete rebuild. Manly 9:1 forged pistons, .20 over. Otherwise completely stock, the only other mod is a jlt cai using the stock maf in the fender. I have a sct2600, bigger injectors, and smaller sc pulley but am waiting for the new Mcleod clutch to break...
03 cobra 4.6 rebuilt bottom end with stock rods and mmr 9:1 pistons. I had the block bored and decked. The piston looks like it protrudes quite a bit above the deck. I realize the head gasket will provide some clearance but how much? I will measure and try to post pics here today.
thanks...
I bought this set because I only needed 1 piston but my machinist messed up the hone and I have to bore it. I was told they came off an 04 cobra. They look a little different than the ones that came out of my 03. They are the same compression as the 03, they are marked ford on the inside. 7...
03 cobra factory Pistons with new manly rings. My machinist honed the bore too much so I can't use these. Two have minor scuffing on skirts crowns are great. $150 for the set plus actual shipping costs.
As in the guy/gal that actually writes your tunes? Are there some nationally recognized names or what? A bad tune can trash your engine in seconds so I want to do this right.
thanks in advance
Bone stock 03, had a bad piston. While it is apart I am going to do the coolant mod and was thinking of a supercharger pulley. Of course that would require new injectors, belt, and tune.....anything else?
engine tick now with video
Just replaced the head gaskets, one was blown. Otherwise completely stock. Had heads, valves, and guides replaced by reputable machine shop. Replaced the plastic chain adjusters with metal. I now have a tick that seems to be worse when engine is cold. By ear it...
I searched and could not find the answer. I found reference to the cam and intake bolts being "stretch" bolts so I am unsure if they are reusable. I put new head bolts in as they are TTY.
AFAIK this engine is factory
thanks
Just bought my first terminator. 03 convertible with a blown head gasket. Oil looks like a milkshake. I have been taking it apart this week and was wondering what is the head gasket of choice for this engine. I usually would run fel pro but as this is supercharged I wasn't sure if something...
