I'm thinking to get a line lock and use it not only for the purpose of controlled burnouts, but lightly pre-loading the drive line in my manual when staging. I've asked this question on a Corvette site, and all but one (a former professional drag racer) said a line lock is ONLY for burnouts...
I was always told that if you're at the strip on street tires, drive around the water box and don't do any burnout. However, some guys who turn in very stout times on street tires, either do a light to basically full burnout.
