After talking to him I bet he’d part it out before selling it to someone who actually wants to restore it. He’s a weasel.

So you're passing on it? If yes, that's smart based on the info you've provided.

Yes I’m passing on it. It’s just a shame. I’m going to see this 02 gt this weekend though. Seems pretty decent, maybe a little expensive but that’s Florida for you. Also I noticed it doesn’t have a hood scoop so the hood has been replaced. Other than the meh parchment interior what do you guys think?

Looks decent but the fact that the hood has been replaced is a flag for me especially if it's been in a accident.

There are still tons of these cars around so you shouldn't have a problem being picky and I wouldn't buy anything that's been hit.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll keep my eye out, problem is there’s nothing close to me. It’s not an excuse to impulse buy though that’s for sure. My last new edge was a 00 gt, it was an impulse buy. The body was straight and the paint good but it had these weird electrical gremlins. No matter what I did I could not track down a running issue, then it would disappear. I took a hit on it when I sold it but it was worth it with the issues it had.

I had an 02 gt for 5 or so years that I sold to a buddy about a year ago. The seats were starting to crack and tear and the clear was starting to get hazy in spots. Otherwise it was great and only had like 96k miles on it. I regret selling that one, but the friend I sold it to turned around and sold it to his boss because he wouldn’t stop dropping offers. I don’t need a diamond but I at least want one with nice paint. Paint is very expensive especially in Florida.

You're going to have a very hard time finding a car that is roughly 20 years old that has good paint at this point, especially with a GT.

Paint is expensive no matter where you go if you want a quality job. If you have the time, money and space I'd do it yourself. That's where I am at with mine.

Once I get the engine bay all together and the car off jack stands I'll be continuing on with painting the car. Already did the engine bay and learned a ton.

I’m an amateur painter. I know the basics and can lay paint myself, I just don’t have the room. My buddy can paint but he doesn’t have the room either. Was thinking of getting a mobile paint booth if I go that way eventually. But you’re right. I can rattle can a decent job so as long as it’s localized I can fix it. It’s hard to see in that pic but the roof had no clear and there were parts of the rear bumper and trunk lid that got hazy. I tried to detail it as a last ditch effort but it didn’t work.

I’m still looking around and I have a buddy in El Paso looking as well. There’s not too much out there right now but I’ll be patient. I’m still going to check out that white one in the meantime. If I can talk him down some and the accident was minor I think I’ll bite. I’ve never owned or seen a new edge with parchment interior in person before. It’s different.

I got a buddy in New Mexico to look at this one for me

Check out this item on OfferUp. https://offerup.co/EQIaBgM9Xmb

They both work at fort bliss funny enough. He sent some pics of the interior and it looks really good. I hate the wheels, I’m going to see if he has the stockers. If so I’ll tell him 5k and he can keep the ones on the car. My buddy said it’s in great shape and doesn’t need anything. Seems like a good deal. I’ll post more when I talk to him more later.
