My '93 cobras had the aluminum spare. I think '94-95's had them too. Not sure on '96-98, but my '99 and my '03 Didn't have them.

Since I converted my 83 Mustang to 5 lug, I need that dreaded space saver...just in case.

I prefer an aluminum one, anything 94 and up will work.

Any suggestions?

I'm not sure, but I think my 2 95 2-Tops have steel S/S spares, painted black.

I'm pretty sure the 03/04 wheel is steel also. I'll stick a magnet to mine when I get home tonight and see.

Terry,

I just did the magnet test on mine. It is definitely non-ferrous and appears to be painted aluminum. I haven't put a file to it to check if it is aluminum or stainless.

I saw a spare 03/04 sell for $125 on eBay before, which I thought was real high. I heard some of the guys buy them for skinnies.

This thread must made me realize that the original spare in my '93 is useless now because of my 5 lug conversion. Good thing I kept one from my other wrecked '03.

I moved that damn spare around a million times, I was sure it wasn't aluminum.

Doe's a regular '94-'95 Cobra have a 5-lug aluminum space saver? I've never seen one. I know the '95Rs didn't come with one. :read:
